A flow sensor system for ventilation treatment comprises a flow conduit configured to allow gas flow between a first region and a second region, the flow conduit defining a lumen for the gas flow; a flow restrictor disposed within the lumen of the flow conduit between the first region and the second region; a first absolute pressure sensor disposed adjacent to the first region of the flow conduit and configured to measure a pressure of the gas flow at the first region of the flow conduit; and a second absolute pressure sensor disposed adjacent to the second region of the flow conduit and configured to measure pressure of the gas flow at the second region of the flow conduit.

A multi-mode electronic medical device for providing resuscitative therapy. The device comprising a housing having a front side positioned to be visible to a user of the device during use, and a user-selectable input to allow the user to select between a basic life support mode and an advanced life support mode. The device further comprising a display on the front of the device housing configured to display a first set of text and/or graphics in the basic life support mode and to display a second set of text and/or graphics, which are more complete than the first set of text and/or graphics, when the device is switched to the advanced life support mode via the user-selectable input. Additionally, the device comprising circuitry configured to control the display based on whether the medical device is operating in the basic life support mode or the advanced life support mode.

A medical device includes a device housing and a door mounted to the device housing. The device also includes a first magnet mounted to the door, wherein magnetic force applied to the door exerts a moment on the door, and a second magnet mounted in the housing and positioned to hold the door shut by magnetic interaction with the first magnet. In addition, the device includes a user-movable mode-changing mechanism attached to a third magnet, and arranged to hold the third magnet out of proximity with the first and second magnets when the device is in a first mode, and to move the third magnet into proximity with the first and second magnets when the device is in a second mode so as to expel the first magnet away from the housing and open the door to expose items positioned behind the door.

The present application is directed to a power dissipation apparatus including a conductive trace formed on a substrate and to methods of using the power dissipation apparatus. The power dissipation apparatus may be used to dissipate heat generated from electrical current passed through the conductive trace of the power dissipation apparatus. A combination of a defibrillator and an electrode package, the combination comprising a defibrillator comprising electrical output wires for delivering a defibrillation pulse to defibrillation electrodes, processing circuitry and associated software for controlling the delivery of the defibrillation pulse, an electrical energy storage element for storing the energy delivered in the defibrillation pulse, a user interface element or elements connected to the processing circuitry for accepting one or more inputs from the user and communicating one or more pieces of information to the user, a housing containing the storage element, processing circuitry, and user interface, and a first mechanical element or elements on the exterior of the housing and configured so that an electrode package can be mechanically attached to the exterior of the housing substantially in full view on the exterior, and an electrode package containing the defibrillation electrodes, the package comprising an outer shell, a portion of the outer shell configured to be opened to remove the electrodes, two or more defibrillation electrodes sealed inside the electrode package, and a second mechanical element or elements on the exterior of the outer shell and configured to mate with the first mechanical element on the housing of the defibrillator to mechanically attach the package to the housing.

Electrode assemblies are provided, in which a pair of electrodes is joined by a central member. In some implementations, the electrode assemblies are foldable, and are configured to facilitate correct placement on a patient's chest. Some electrode assemblies include a separable electrode, allowing the electrode assembly to be fitted to patients having particularly large chests.
