A system for joining a limb liner to a prosthesis. The prosthesis has a socket that is joined to the remainder of the prosthesis using a hub assembly. The hub assembly includes a first hub and a second hub. The first hub is disposed within the interior of the socket. The second hub is disposed outside the interior of the socket. An air conduit extends through the hub assembly that enables air to be drawn into the socket and/or vented from the socket. An inflatable interface is disposed within the socket. The inflatable interface receives air through the air conduit in the hub assembly. The inflatable interface is capable of filling any gaps that may exist between a limb liner being worn by an amputee and the socket.

Air control system for enhancing a connection between a limb liner and a limb prosthesis

An interface for use between the socket of a prosthesis and a limb liner. The interface has a double-layered body having a bottom end and an open top end. A mounting pinhole can be formed through the bottom end so that a connector pin on the limb liner can extend through the interface and engage the prosthesis. Alternatively, the bottom end can be formed without a pinhole to accommodate a non-locking type liner. The interface has an interior layer, an exterior layer and an interposed gap space. A vent is provided for selectively controlling airflow into and out of the gap space. The gap space can be inflated in one of two ways. First, the gap space can be made self-inflating by placing open cell foam material into the gap space. Second, a manual pump can be attached to the interface that actively pumps air into the gap space.

Inflatable interface for use between a limb liner and a limb prosthesis

A garment device and its associated method of manufacture are claimed. The garment produced has an internal surface and an external surface, wherein the internal surface contacts a portion of the user's skin. The garment is preferably fabricated from a knitted or woven material having at least one first yarn made from a conventional garment material and a second yarn that includes an active antimicrobial agent. The knit pattern is designed to cause the conventional garment material to be predominant on the exterior surface of the garment while the yarns containing the antimicrobial agent are predominant on the interior surface of the garment. The presence of the yarns with the active antimicrobial agent on the interior of the garment resists the microbial contamination of the interior of the garment. As a result, the length of time the garment can be worn without the adverse effects of contamination can be extended.

Garment having antimicrobial properties and its associated method of manufacture

A sock and its associated method of manufacture, wherein the sock reduces chafing experienced by the foot. The sock includes an inner sock layer having an interior surface and an exterior surface. The inner sock layer is fabricated from at least one first thread made from a conventional garment material and a second thread made from a fluoropolymer material, wherein the conventional garment material is predominant on the interior surface of the inner sock layer and the fluoropolymer material is predominant on the exterior surface of the inner sock layer. The sock also includes an outer sock layer that surrounds the inner sock layer. The outer sock layer also has an interior surface and an exterior surface. The outer sock layer is fabricated from at least one first thread made from a conventional garment material and a second thread made from a fluoropolymer material, wherein the conventional garment material is predominant on the exterior of the outer sock layer and the fluoropolymer material is predominant on the interior surface of the outer sock layer.

Double layer sock with low friction layer to layer interface

A device and method for reducing the creation of contact sores on the body caused by the body's contact with an external object. The present invention includes a garment having an internal surface and an external surface. The garment is preferably fabricated from a fabric material having at least one first thread made from a conventional garment material and a second thread made from a fluoropolymer material. The thread pattern is designed to cause the conventional garment material to be predominant on the interior surface of the garment while the fluoropolymer material is predominant on the exterior surface of the garment. The presence of the fluoropolymer material on the exterior surface of the garment causes the exterior of the garment to have a lower coefficient of friction than does the interior of the garment. As a result, the exterior of the garment moves across contacted objects with a minimum of chaffing while the skin remains padded by the static interior of the garment.
