This invention is directed to a developer composition comprised of a resin, a colorant such as cyan, magenta, yellow, or mixtures thereof, and a single carrier. In one embodiment there is combined with a single carrier material, such as a steel carrier or a nickel berry carrier, a cyan toner, such as a styrene/n-butyl methacrylate resin, and copper tetra-4-(octadecylsulfonomido) phthalocyanine, a magenta toner material comprised of styrene/n-butyl methacrylate copolymer resin and 2,9-dimethyl substituted quinacridone, and/or a yellow toner material comprised of styrene/n-butylmethacrylate copolymer resin and a diaryldide yellow 3,3-dichlorobenzidene aceto acetanilide. The developer composition is useful for developing color images in an electrophotographic imaging system. In this system a photoreceptor material contained therein is charged, imagewise exposed, followed by development, transfer of the developed image to a suitable substrate such as paper, and permanently fixing the developed image, by heat for example, to the substrate.

Blended toners of functional color

This invention relates to an improved color developing composition, the composition being comprised of toner resin particles, with each of said particles containing therein up to four pigments, and a single carrier. Suitable pigments include magenta, cyan, yellow or white, and/or mixtures thereof. The pigments are present in an amount of from about 1 percent (part) to about 20 percent by weight. Such compositions are useful in obtaining color images utilizing a single pass xerographic imaging system.

Toners, developers for use in a single pass color image development

An apparatus in which particles are mixed. The particles are disposed in an inner member having an outer member spaced therefrom and positioned concentrically thereover. A helical magnetic pole pattern is impressed on the outer member. Relative angular rotation between the outer member and the inner member translates the particles generating mixing therebetween.

Cross mixer

An apparatus in which an original document is reproduced. The original document is scanned to determine the tonal graduations thereof and a signal generated indicative thereof. An image of the original document having a plurality of half-tone dot spacial frequencies is formed. Each half-tone dot spacial frequency is selected from a plurality of selected spacial frequencies corresponding to a pre-determined signal range. In this manner, the selected half-tone dot spacial frequencies are a function of the signal indicating the tone graduations of the original document.

Variable frequency half-tone imaging apparatus

An apparatus in which the developability of a development system comprising a mixture of particles having at least two different colors is regulated. The quantity of each of the differently colored particles is maintained at a pre-scribed level to form a mixture of particles having a pre-determined color.

Multi-particle developability regulating system

An apparatus in which at least a pair of developer rollers deposit toner particles on an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member to render it visible. One of the rollers rotates at a first tangential velocity being spaced a first distance from the photoconductive member. The other roller rotates at a second tangential velocity being spaced a second distance from the photoconductive member. The second tangential velocity is greater than the first tangential velocity with the second distance being less than the first distance.

High speed magnetic brush development system

A reproducing machine in which a member has successive latent images recorded thereon. The reproducing machine includes a pair of developer units. One developer unit is located in the operative position in the reproducing machine with the other unit being remote therefrom. Each developer unit contains different colored particles. Color changes are achieved by interchanging developer units to develop one latent image with particles of one color and the other latent image with particles of the other color.

Reproducing machine having interchangeable developer housings

An apparatus in which a latent image recorded on a member is developed with particles. The apparatus includes a housing having a chamber for storing a supply of particles therein. During the development process, particles are deposited on the latent image recorded on the member. These particles are purged from the chamber of the housing to permit particles of a different color to be disposed therein.

Purging system for a development apparatus

An apparatus which regulates the developability characteristics of a development system employing a developer mixture comprising at least carrier granules and toner particles. A transparent electrode attracts toner particles from the carrier granules. Light rays are transmitted through the electrode with the particles thereon. Sensors having peak transmittances corresponding to the peak transmittance and absorbence of the toner particles, detect the intensity of the light rays transmitted through the electrode and generate electrical output signals indicative thereof. These signals are processed and a control signal is developed which regulates the dispensing of additional toner particles into the developer mixture. In this manner, the concentration of toner particles within the developer mix is adjusted.
