A worm shaft is provided with an intermediate worm thread section between first and second end structures, wherein at least one of the first and second end structures has a coupling structure for a desired extension of a plurality of modular worm shaft extensions. The desired extension and the intermediate worm thread section are both selectable based on the desired application, the desired gearing ratio, and other features. Accordingly, the multi-component worm shaft of the present technique increases flexibility, reduces manufacturing costs, and reduces inventory.

Modular-flexible wormshaft assembly

A sealed, rotatable shaft assembly includes a housing that defines a bore that extends from an area exterior to the housing to an area interior to the housing. A shaft is rotatably disposed in the housing about an axis of the bore. The shaft extends through the bore between the interior area and the exterior area. An annular lip seal is disposed in the bore and is attached to one of the shaft and the housing. The lip seal extends from the one of the shaft and the housing to the other of the shaft and the housing in a contact seal so that rotation of the shaft with respect to the housing wears the lip seal to form a zero-clearance non-contacting seal. A labyrinth seal stage extends between the shaft and the housing. The labyrinth seal stage is disposed outward of the lip seal, with respect to the interior area and in communication with the lip seal.

Shaft assembly having improved seal arrangement

Hydrostatic transmission comprises a radial piston pump assembly having an axis of rotation and a gear motor. A hydrostatic fluid pathway extends between the gear motor and the radial piston pump such that the gear motor is fluidly coupled to the radial piston pump, wherein the gear motor comprises at least one gear which is capable of being rotatably driven by a fluid being transported along the fluid pathway. Preferably, a piston guide retains the piston heads against the corresponding slippers without requiring any kind of direct mechanical linkage to maintain such coupling. The present invention further provides a hydraulic shock absorber which absorbs pressure pulses generated by a rotating rotary cylinder block of a radial piston assembly, which may be either a pump or a motor.

Transaxle with hydrostatic transmission

A mechanical disconnection mechanism for a hydrostatic transmission. The output shaft of the hydrostatic transmission is divided into a drive portion and a driven portion, with both the drive portion and the driven portion being provided with external splines or gears. To connect the drive portion to the driven portion, a splined sleeve is positioned to engage the splines of both the driven portion and the drive portion such that rotation of the drive portion rotates the driven portion. To disconnect the drive portion from the driven portion, the splined sleeve is positioned to engage only one of the drive portion and the driven portion. In the disconnected position, the implement may be manually pushed without reverse driving the hydraulic unit of the transmission to thereby allow for relatively easy movement. A brake is mounted about the driven portion of the output shaft to enable the vehicle to be stopped regardless of the position of the splined sleeve.
