Disposable paper products, such as paper toweling, are provided with an indicator means which is disposed on said disposable paper product in a discontinuous or combination discontinuous/continuous pattern. The indicator means gives a visually recognizable signal to a user that desirable properties of the disposable paper product are maintained, even after the disposable paper product has become wetted with a substantially transparent aqueous liquid. The wet gray scale difference for the disposable paper product of the present invention is at least about 64 gray scale units when the disposable paper product is wetted with a substantially transparent aqueous liquid.

Disposable paper products with indicator means

A waste-containment garment such as a disposable diaper or a disposable diaper insert which is fitted with integrally protected adhesive fasteners which do not extend outwardly from the edges of the garment. Each adhesive fastener comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive means disposed on an outer surface of the garment and an adhesive-release means disposed adjacent thereto on the same outer surface of the garment. Preferably such means are disposed on corner areas of the garment, and the garment is folded to associate each adhesive means in face-to-face adhered relation with its adjacent adhesive-release means until immediately prior to use of the garment. To use the garment, each adhesive means is peeled from its associated adhesive-release means so that it may be used for its intended purpose: e.g., to secure a diaper insert inside a diaper or overpant or the like; or to secure the back corners of a disposable diaper to the adjacent front corners of the disposable diaper. Diaper insert embodiments of the garment preferably have such means on each of their outwardly facing corners; and disposable diaper embodiments of the garment preferably have such means disposed on two of their inwardly facing corners.

Waste-containment garment having integrally protected adhesive fasteners

A composite waste-containment garment comprising a disposable, elasticized waste-containment insert secured by means integral with the insert inside a non-elasticized over-garment such as a conventional reuseable diaper, or a disposable diaper, or overpants, or the combination of a non-elasticized reuseable diaper covered with an outer-garment such as overpants having elasticized leg cuffs. The insert comprises an absorbent core and a liquid impervious backsheet. Preferably, it also includes a liquid pervious, hydrophobic topsheet. The insert has a width less than one-half the midsection girths of intended users and, preferably, the absorbent core has front and back waist portions which have widths of from about fifteen to about thirty-five percent of the midsection girths of intended users, or about one-quarter the midsection girth of nominally sized intended wearer. The insert is so elasticized along its longitudinal side edges that, when properly secured inside a suitable over-garment, and the over-garment is properly applied to a wearer as with safety pins, the elasticized side edges of the insert are sufficiently tensioned to form liquid seals or leg cuffs along upper thigh regions of the wearer: particularly, along the inner spans of the upper thigh regions of the wearer. The insert may include outwardly facing adhesive areas on its corners to enable its securement to inwardly facing surface regions of the over-garment; and the insert may futher include captive peelable covers for the adhesive areas.

Composite waste-containment garment having disposable elasticized insert

A method of using a composite waste-containment garment comprising a disposable, elasticized waste-containment insert secured by means integral with the insert inside a non-elasticized over-garment such as a conventional reuseable diaper, or a disposable diaper, or overpants, or the combination of a non-elasticized reuseable diaper covered with an outer-garment such as overpants having elasticized leg cuffs. The insert is so elasticized along its longitudinal side edges that, when properly secured inside a suitable over-garment, and the over-garment is properly applied to a wearer, the elasticized side edges of the insert are sufficiently tensioned to form liquid seals or leg cuffs along upper thigh regions of the wearer: particularly, along the inner spans of the upper thigh regions of the wearer. The method comprises the steps of laying the over-garment out flat; stretching the insert to substantially reduce its elastic induced contraction--preferably fully removing such contraction--and securing the insert to the over-garment while maintaining the insert in such a stretched state. The method may further include applying an outer-garment such as overpants having elasticized leg cuffs over the over-member, and dressing the leg cuffs so that the side edges of the over-member are disposed intermediate the leg cuffs of the insert and the outer-garment.
