Some embodiments disclosed include keys, lock cylinders, and key and lock cylinder combinations. The keys include a bow and a blade extending from the bow, where the blade includes at least one undercut groove in a lateral side thereof that receives at least one projection defining a keyway passage of a lock cylinder in which the key is positioned.

A lock chassis including a chassis housing having two substantially identical housing halves. The housing halves mate to form the housing when oriented 180&deg; relative to each other. The housing halves include sidewalls having a lateral face positioned to abut the opposite housing half when the housing halves are coupled together. The housing is secured by lugs that mate with pockets in the lateral face of the sidewall of the opposite housing half and screws which extend through apertures in one housing half and into threaded holes in the lateral face of the sidewall of the opposite housing half.

Lock chassis

A holdback dog for a mortise lock including a holdback dog slidably mounted to a tab on the mortise lock locking link. The holdback dog is activated by first retracting the latchbolt using the inside handle and then unlocking the lock using either the key cylinder or the inside thumbturn. When the lock is unlocked, the locking link moves downward, placing a tab on the holdback dog slide in confronting engagement with a corresponding tab on the bolt slide. After the inside handle is released, the holdback dog tab holds the bolt slide, and therefor the latchbolt, in the retracted or 'dogged' position. For normal or 'undogged' operation, the slidable mounting of the holdback slide allows the bolt slide tab to engage the holdback dog tab and push the holdback dog slide out of the way, when the lock is unlocked and either handle is operated, thereby permitting normal operation.

A power feed adapter comprising: a battery holder; an adapter cap for attachment to the battery holder, the adapter cap having an electrical contact thereon, the electrical contact comprising: a central contact connected to a positive terminal of the battery holder; an insulating ring surrounding the central contact; and a ground ring surrounding the insulating ring, the ground ring being connected to a negative terminal of the battery holder.

A knob catch for securing a knob or lever to the driving spindle of a door lock. The knob catch is constructed of a base with a centered odd shaped hole. The hole is made in such a way that the knob or lever cannot be removed when the locking device is in the locked position using a key operated cylinder with a flat locking bar. A tongue portion of the knob catch rises above the base and fits into the knob or lever and keeps the knob or lever from being removed. In the front side of this tongue is an angular surface which permits the knob or lever to be slid over the top of the knob catch until the knob catch tongue and an aperture in the knob or lever align allowing the tongue to be spring biased into the aperture to secure the knob or lever. There are two springs attached to the knob catch to bias the tongue into engagement with the knob or lever aperture.

A door lock, preferably operable both by a mechanical key with a key cylinder and by an electronic signal and having inside and outside handles mounted on inside and outside hollow spindles, for mounting on a door having an inside face and an outside face, has a cylindrical lock chassis with a provision for retracting a latch bolt in response to rotation of either of the hollow spindles; a member for selectively locking the outside spindle against rotation; a reversible electric motor mounted coaxially within the inside spindle, the motor being secured against rotation but free to slide axially against resistance provided by a biasing member, and having a motor shaft extending through the cylindrical lock chassis to operably engage the member for locking the outside spindle; a power supply for the motor; and a mechanism for selectively moving the member between locked and unlocked positions.

In a door lock having a latch bolt selectively retractable by a rotatable driver spindle, the driver spindle being rotatable by operation of an outside manual lever associated with an outside chassis assembly or by operation of an inside manual lever associated with an inside chassis assembly, a lost motion mechanism is provided between the driver spindle and the inside chassis assembly so that rotational movement of the driver spindle is not transmitted to the inside lever. An interconnect mechanism connects the inside lever to a deadbolt operating assembly whereby operation of the inside lever retracts both the latch bolt and the deadbolt. The lost motion mechanism includes a driven spindle located within an axially extending bore in a spindle core and having an opening for receiving an end of the driver spindle, the spindle core being mechanically linked to the inside lever. The driven spindle and core are configured such that rotational movement of the spindle core is transmitted to the driver spindle but rotational movement of the driver spindle and driven spindle is not transmitted to the spindle core. The interconnect mechanism includes a lower cam driven by the spindle core for moving a slide plate, and an upper cam mounted on an operating bar which is rotated to retract or extend the deadbolt. As the lower cam is rotated, it moves the slide plate which is configured to receive and rotate the upper cam so that the operating bar retracts the deadbolt.

An interchangeable lock core cylinder for use with a lock housing has a cylindrical body with a pin chest attached and parallel thereto, a rotatable key plug inserted within the cylindrical body, provision for capturing the core in the housing, and a mechanism within the key plug for selectively operating the capturing provision. This mechanism allows rapid insertion, removal, and replacement of lock core cylinders using an appropriate control key. When installed, the core cylinder is locked into engagement with the housing and has a positive latching provision so that it cannot be removed without use of the control key.
