An initiation of an emergency communication with an emergency service associated with an emergency telephone number is detected by a mobile communications device. A completion of the emergency communication using a first communication path associated with a mobile communications service provider is attempted. The mobile communication device determines that the emergency communication using the first communication path has failed. An identity of a destination of the failed emergency communication is determined using location and telemetry data from the mobile communication device. A connection of the mobile communications device to the identified destination is facilitated using a second communication path. The mobile communications device is identified to the determined destination as an originator of the connection.

Emergency call service backup using device user plane communications

In particular embodiments, the system is adapted to: (1) monitor a user's behavior to anticipate that the user is likely to imminently place a request for emergency services; and (2) in response to determining that a request for emergency services is likely to be initiated imminently, facilitating the transmission of telemetry data from the user's mobile computing device to a remote computer for use in determining a dispatchable location for use by a PSAP that will handle the request for emergency services. The system may execute these steps in advance of the request for emergency services being initiated.

Caller location determination systems and methods

Telecommunications systems that are adapted to: (1) monitor a user's behavior to anticipate that the user will likely imminently place an emergency services request; and (2) in response to determining that a request for emergency services is likely to be initiated imminently, facilitate the transmission of telemetry data from the user's mobile computing device to a remote computer for use in determining a dispatchable location for use by a PSAP that will handle the request. The system may execute these steps in advance of the request for emergency services being initiated. For example, the system may monitor the user's behavior, and determine that the user will imminently place an emergency call in response to determining that the user has dialed one or more digits of an emergency number, but has not yet selected a 'send' key (or the equivalent) to formally initiate the call.

Computer systems, according to various embodiments, are adapted to assist emergency services providers in determining the location of an individual who is in need of help. In various embodiments, the system may be adapted to determine a current dispatchable location for the individual who is in need of help, use the determined dispatchable location to determine which particular public-safety answering point will be handling an emergency electronic communication (e.g., text message or other, non-text digital or analog electronic communication) regarding the individual, update a data structure associated with the particular public-safety answering point to indicate the individual's current location, and then initiate and/or mediate an electronic communication between the individual and the emergency services provider. In various embodiments, updating the database may provide more accurate information regarding the individual's location than would otherwise be available for the individual.

Text message sender location and PSAP determination systems and methods

Computer systems, according to various embodiments, are adapted to assist emergency services providers in determining the location of an individual who is in need of help.
