Catalyst compositions and methods, useful in polymerization processes, utilizing at least two metal compounds are disclosed. At least one of the metal compounds is a Group 15 containing metal compound and the other metal compound is preferably a bulky ligand metallocene-type catalyst. The invention also discloses a new polyolefin, generally polyethylene, particularly a multimodal polymer and more specifically, a bimodal polymer, and its use in various end-use applications such as film, molding and pipe.

Catalyst composition, method of polymerization, and polymer therefrom

The present invention is directed to a bimodal polyethylene comprising ethylene derived units and units derived from at least one of a Cto Colefin; wherein the polyethylene has a density of from 0.940 to 0.970 g/cm; an I/Iof 80 or more; a residual Group 4 metal content of 2.0 ppm or less: a Mw/Mn of from 20 to 60; and wherein the polyethylene comprises a high molecular weight component and a low molecular weight component, the high molecular weight component present from 40 to 60 weight percent based on the total polyethylene, and wherein the bimodal polyethylene has a weight avenge molecular weight Mw of 180,000 a.m.u. or more.

Catalyst compositions and methods useful in polymerization processes utilizing at least two metal compounds are disclosed. A polymerization catalyst system and a method for preparing the catalyst system is disclosed. The catalyst system includes a bulky ligand metallocene catalyst compound, preferably containing a single cyclopentadienyl or substituted cyclopentadienyl-type ring system, a Group 13 element containing first modifier, and a cycloalkadiene second modifier. The present invention also provides a process for polymerizing olefin(s) utilizing the catalyst systems described herein.

Catalyst system and its use in olefin polymerization

This invention relates to a process to polymerize olefins comprising reacting olefins with a catalyst system comprising an activator, a metallocene and a second metal compound based on bidentate ligands containing heterocycle moieties.

Catalyst for the production of olefin polymers

The invention provides a process for reducing the low molecular weight oligomer content of olefin polymers produced by metallocene catalysis wherein at least one organometallic compound is fed continuously into the reactor during polymerization. The organometallic compound has the formula R A, wherein A is a Periodic Table Group 12 or 13 element. R is the same or different, substituted or unsubstituted, straight or branched chain alkylradical, cyclic hydrocarbyl radical, alkyl-cyclohydrocarbyl radical, aromatic radical or alkoxide radical and n is 2 or 3, to form a polymer product having a content of said compound of at least about 50 weight ppm.

Polymerization process

This invention comprises a metallocene catalyst system for the production of high molecular weight polyolefins, particularly polyethylene and higher poly-alpha olefins, and copolymers of ethylene and/or alpha olefins with other unsaturated monomers, including diolefins, acetylenically unsaturated monomers and cyclic olefins. The catalyst system is highly active, at low ratios of Al to transition metal, and hence catalyzes the production of a polyolefin product containing low levels of catalyst metal residues. The catalyst system comprises (i) a metallocene precursor (Component A), aluminoxane (Component B), and phenolic modifier (Component C) or (ii) the reaction product of a metallocene precursor with a phenolic compound (Component A&prime;) and aluminoxane (Component B). There is also provide a polymerization process using the catalyst and the product so produced.

Use of chelatable phenols with metallocene- aluminoxane catalyst systems

A catalyst composition is provided, which is prepared by contacting a cycloalkadienyl compound, a transition metal amide of the formula M(NMe,),X,, an aluminoxane, and optionally a solid support at a temperature of 0 to 100&deg; C.
