An aqueous leather treatment composition is provided containing select soft polymer particles and water-filled voided particles. Also provided are a method for preparing an embossed coated leather substrate, which includes the application of the aqueous leather treatment composition, as well as an article prepared from the embossed coated leather substrate.

Aqueous leather treatment composition and method of use

Provided are improved coatings, polymeric dispersions, and polymeric composites, which include crosslinked polymeric nanoparticles (hereafter 'PNPs'). Also provided are methods for forming improved coatings, polymeric dispersions, and polymeric composites, which include PNPs. The PNPs have polymerized units of at least one multi-ethylenically-unsaturated monomer have a mean diameter of from 1 to 50 nanometers. PNPs having polymerized units of at least one multi-ethylenically-unsaturated monomer and at least one surface-active monomer are also provided.

Coating and coating composition

An aqueous leather coating composition containing a multi-stage emulsion polymer having a stage of Tg<10&deg; C. which contains a copolymerized carboxylic acid and which has been contacted with a divalent metal oxide, hydroxide, or carbonate and a polymer stage of Tg>20&deg; C. which has been prepared in the presence of 1% to 15% by weight based on the weight of that stage of chain transfer agent is provided. Pesticide compositions

An aqueous leather coating composition and a method for coating leather with the aqueous coating composition are provided. The aqueous coating composition contains an aqueous emulsion polymer which includes from 0.4% to 10% by weight of a copolymerized acetoacetate or acetoacetamide monomer and has a glass transition temperature from &minus;20&deg; C. to 10&deg; C. In an alternative embodiment the aqueous coating composition contains an aqueous emulsion polymer which includes from 0.1% to 6% by weight of a copolymerized acetoacetate or acetoacetamide monomer and from 2% to 15% by weight of copolymerized carboxylic acid monomer and has a glass transition temperature from &minus;40&deg; C. to 0&deg; C., the polymer having been contacted with a transition metal oxide, hydroxide, or carbonate at a pH less than 9 in an amount greater than 0.20 equivalent of transition metal per equivalent of copolymerized carboxylic acid monomer.

The present invention relates to the preparation of aqueous based polymers bearing reactive functional groups. More particularly, this invention relates to waterborne or water dispersed polymers that are equivalent in performance in applications formerly dominated by solvent based polymers. Polymers of the present invention have many uses including adhesives, saturant applications, solutions or dispersions in water or water-cosolvent mixtures, and are most useful as coatings and sealants for wood, glass, metal, concrete and binders for mortars and non-wovens. More specifically, surface coatings produced from polymers of the present invention exhibit improved properties such as: for example, durability, toughness, solvent resistance, dirt pickup resistance, print and block resistance and mar resistance.

Single package ambient curing polymers

An aqueous, radiation-curable, functionalized latex polymer composition and its preparation are disclosed. The composition is a multistaged latex polymer formed from a first stage polymer and a second stage polymer having .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated carbonyl functionalization which permits curing by UV radiation. The composition dries tack-free before curing. The final cured UV coating has excellent solvent resistance, water resistance, stain resistance, direct impact resistance and hot print resistance. Functionalized multistage polymers

A coating composition is used for coating or overlaying Portland cement concrete or metal. The composition includes a synthetic polymer latex having ureido functional groups, an amine-functional epoxy curing agent, a liquid epoxy resin, and a hydraulic cement. The coating composition has superior thermal shock resistance and low cost in comparison with epoxy/amine-type polymer concrete, and excellent strength development and chemical resistance in comparison with conventional latex-based cementitious compositions. The coating composition can be mixed from a pair of storage-stable components; a dry mix including the hydraulic cement and the epoxy resin, and optionally larger size aggregate, and a wet mix including the polymer latex and the amine curing agent. The two components can be mixed on site to give a fluid coating composition having a good pot life and low viscosity, which rapidly develops strength, and ultimately develops high compressive strength, thermal shock resistance, and resistance to chemical attack, especially attack by aqueous acids.

This invention relates to vinyl monomer compositions exhibiting accelerated surface cure characteristics. These compositions are prepared from a vinyl monomer or monomer mixtures such as a blend of dicyclopentenyloxyethyl methacrylate and hydroxypropyl methacrylate, a bulk phase polymerization catalyst system, a polyvalent metal oxidative surface phase catalyst, and a diolefin rubber dispersed in the vinyl monomer as a surface cure accelerator. These compositions are useful as binders for polymer concrete and as impregnants for porous surfaces.
