A system for providing clinical decision support during a clinical encounter with a patient includes a mobile computing device and a remote computing device communicatively coupled to and remotely located from the mobile computing device, the remote computing device configured to receive clinical data during the clinical encounter from a medical device associated with the patient, provide a first interactive display including the clinical data, enable the mobile computing device to access the clinical data, receive user input based on the clinical data from the mobile computing device, and provide the user input and the clinical data at the first interactive display, where the mobile computing device is configured to access the clinical data, provide the clinical data at a second interactive display, prompt a user for the user input based on the clinical data via the second interactive display, and transmit the user input to the remote computing device.

Systems and methods for EMS device communications interface

A system for providing role-based data feeds for a plurality of patient caregivers includes a portable central device and a patient data display screen. The central device is configured to obtain the medical data via one or more sensors and/or electrodes configured to couple to the patient and provide the medical data to mobile devices, optionally as multiple role-based data feeds. The central device may include software and hardware configured to feed the medical data to the mobile devices via multiple role-based data feeds. The patient data display screen is configured to display the medical data. Each mobile device may identify an associated type of medical data by displaying a screen enabling a caregiver to select the associated type of medical data based on their role, or may receive a respective role-based data feed from the central device. Each mobile device is configured to display the received medical data.

Example defibrillator electrode assemblies compression assemblies are described that may be dimensioned and configured for use on a patient despite physical constraints that limit the area or locations on a patient onto which an electrode assembly may be placed. A system for assisting a rescuer in providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) chest compressions includes a motion sensor configured to generate motion sensor signals indicative of chest motion and a defibrillator. The defibrillator includes a processor and a display screen configured to provide CPR feedback and defibrillation information. The processor is configured to receive the motion sensor signals, analyze the motion sensor signals for features characteristic of a chest compression delivery type to distinguish between chest compression delivery types comprising manual compression, non-automated ACD, and automated ACD, and selectively provide the CPR feedback at the display screen based on an identification of the chest compression delivery type such that the CPR feedback includes a plurality of CPR parameters for the manual compression delivery type and remove at least portions of the CPR parameters from the display screen for the non-automated ACD and the automated ACD compression delivery types.

Automated detection of cardiopulmonary resuscitation chest compressions

An apparatus includes a medical device that includes a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment feedback device, a memory, and at least one processor and a plurality of electrodes configured to provide at least an electrical impedance signal to the processor. The electrical impedance signal correspond to an electrical impedance measured at a chest of a patient. The processor is configured to receive the electrical impedance signal, process the electrical impedance signal to determine information representative of chest compressions performed by a rescuer on the patient during the CPR treatment of the patient, based on the processing, determine corrective action for the CPR treatment, and provide CPR treatment feedback comprising the corrective action at the CPR treatment feedback device.

Among other things, we describe a system that includes a first medical device for treating a patient at an emergency care scene, the first medical device including a processor and a memory configured to detect a request for a connection between the first medical device and a second medical device for treating the patient at the emergency care scene, the request for connection including an identifier of the second medical device, responsive to receiving the request for connection, enabling a wireless communication channel to be established between the first medical device and the second medical device based on the identifier of the second medical device and an identifier of the first medical device; and enabling transmission and/or exchange of patient data between the first medical device and the second medical device via the wireless communication channel. Such communications with more than two devices may also be possible.

Establishing secure communication at an emergency care scene

Methods and systems that analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) data to identify whether it would be beneficial for a caregiver to administer an electric shock to the heart in an effort to get the heart back into a normal pattern and a consistent, strong beat. By conducting a running check for conditions that are pre-validated by a comprehensive patient database to have high predictive value (e.g., with a low false-positive rate), a shockable rhythm can be identified fast (e.g., less than 6 seconds, less than 3 seconds, possibly in less than a second) and without having to analyze ECG data for longer time segments than would otherwise be required using conventional methods.

Fast identification of shockable or non-shockable rhythms in ECG data

Systems and methods related to the field of cardiac resuscitation, and in particular to devices for assisting rescuers in performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are described herein. The system includes a chest compression device having force sensing capabilities, for providing feedback in enhancing the quality of acute care. The force sensor(s) may exhibit varying resolutions over different dynamic force ranges, for example, to provide information helpful to the resuscitative treatment. Chest compression devices that are able to sense force may be able to assist a system in providing accurate chest compression depth and rate information, as well as assess the amount of work exerted by one or more rescuers during the course of resuscitation. Force sensors described herein may employ relatively inexpensive components, such as pressure sensors, emitters, optical detectors, simple circuit boards, springs, compliant/resilient materials, electrically resistive layers, force-sensitive materials, amongst other suitable parts.

A feedback device for an acute care provider includes: at least one motion sensor; a haptic output component for providing feedback having a varying haptic pattern to the acute care provider regarding performance of a resuscitation activity; and a controller. The controller can be configured to receive and process a signal representative of performance of the resuscitation activity from the at least one motion sensor, compare the acute care provider's performance of the resuscitation activity to a target performance of the resuscitation activity, and cause the haptic output component to provide haptic feedback to the acute care provider by changing the haptic pattern based, at least in part, on the signal from the at least one motion sensor and the comparison of the acute care provider's performance to the target performance of the resuscitation activity. The device can be adapted to be wrist-worn by the acute care provider.

Method and apparatus for enhancement of chest compressions during CPR

An example of a system for assisting a rescuer in providing CPR includes a motion sensor configured to generate signals indicative of chest motion during CPR chest compressions, and a defibrillator including a display screen configured to provide CPR feedback and defibrillation information and a processor configured to receive the signals, generate a compression waveform based on the signals, detect, in the compression waveform, features characteristic of chest compressions, compare the detected features to a predetermined criterion that distinguishes between manually delivered and compressions delivered by an automated compression device, and selectively provide the CPR feedback based on whether the compressions are the manually delivered or the automated compressions, where the selective provision of the CPR feedback includes displaying CPR parameters for the manually delivered compressions, and a removing from the display screen at least one CPR parameter of the CPR parameters for the automated compressions.

A system and method for aiding in the proper placement of ECG electrodes and other resuscitation parameters. The system includes motion sensors disposed on the ECG electrodes, and a defibrillator control system operable to interpret motion signals from the motions sensors to determine that an electrode is in motion, and thus being handled by rescuer setting up the system for use, and, based on this determination, prompt the rescuer to place the electrode in its intended location on the body of the patient. The control system may also be operable to determine relative motion and/orientation of the motion sensors and control resuscitation based on the relative motion and/orientation of the motion sensors.
