The present invention provides a calibration device for an optical detector comprising a light emitting diode, and an electronic circuitfor driving the light emitting diode, wherein the electronic circuitis a constant current generator configured to supply a constant driving current to the light emitting diodein the range of 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;A. Furthermore, the present invention provides a setting device for setting at least one calibration point for a calibration device as described above. The setting device comprises a light detectorconfigured to output a signal representing the light emission intensity of a calibration device under examination, a controllerfor controlling the constant driving current of the calibration device under examination, and a calibration point setting meansfor setting at least one calibration point for the calibration device under examination.

Calibration device for an optical detector and setting device for setting calibration points for the calibration device

A camera for capturing an image of an object, for example an eye. The camera has at least two light sources and an image-sensing system having two image sensors. A multiple branch optical system transmits outgoing light from the light sources to the object, and transmits incoming light from the object to the image-sensing system. The multiple branch optical system includes an autofocusing element such as a variable power optical element that varies the focus of the incoming light. There is also an image display. There is a controller that controls the operation of the light sources, controls acquisition of images by the image-sensing system, and controls the display of images on the image display. The controller activates an autofocus light source and uses the resulting captured image to automatically adjust the image exposure parameters. The controller automatically adjusts the autofocusing element to improve the image focus, and then activates the second light source and acquires one or more images of the object while the second light source is activated.

This invention relates to a filtration apparatus and method for the separation of microscopic entities from a fluid (liquid or gas) and subsequent visual or imaging microscopic analysis of the entities separated thereon either directly or after treatment of the entities whilst on the apparatus in order to enhance their subsequent visualization and/or imaging. Such treatment can comprise reaction with reagents contained in other solutions that can be made to imbibe and/or pass through the filtration apparatus and which can be washed with solutions that can be made to imbibe and/or pass through the filtration apparatus. An example of a specific area of application is in the microbiological testing of fluids in order to detect, identify and/or enumerate microorganisms contained in a fluid test sample.

Filtration apparatus and method for the separation of microscopic entities from a fluid

A filtration member transfer apparatus is provided for transferring one or a plurality of discrete reaction or isolation zones such as filtration membranes from a sample isolation step to an analytical apparatus. The transfer apparatus includes a template, preferably which is electrically conductive, having holes or depressions of a size, shape and position corresponding to the reaction or isolation zones. An electrically conductive adhesive is exposed in the holes or depressions of the template.

Multi-filter analytical apparatus

An affinity matrix and a method for the detection of low molecular weight compositions such as aflatoxins are provided utilizing specific monoclonal IgM antibody having an affinity constant not less than about 1.times.10.sup.9 liters per mole.
