A motorized surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a motor configured to drive an end effector between an unarticulated position and an articulated position, a sensor configured to detect a position of the end effector and provide a signal indicative of the position of the end effector, and a control circuit coupled to the sensor and the motor. A surgical kit and related methods of assembly and disassembly include a surgical instrument having an end effector, a shaft assembly, and a body assembly. The surgical instrument includes a predetermined access portion configured to be at least partially removed for accessing an interior therein. The channel arm has an anchor member and is configured to move between expanded and unexpanded states. When in the expanded state, the anchor member is configured to be disposed within a second natural body lumen. A control actuator extends along the channel arm and is operatively coupled to the anchor member, the control actuator being operatively coupled to a drive system that is configured to control motion of the channel arm to selectively manipulate an organ associated with the first and second natural body lumens.

An electrosurgical device comprises a body, an end effector, a cutting member, and a shaft. The end effector includes a pair of jaws that are operable to deliver RF energy to tissue that is clamped between the jaws. The cutting member is operable to sever tissue that is clamped between the jaws. The shaft extends between the body and the end effector. The shaft includes an articulation section that is operable to selectively position the end effector at non-parallel positions relative to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. Some versions include a rotation section that is distal to the articulation section. The rotation section is operable to rotate the end effector relative to the articulation section.

Surgical data system and classification

Surgical systems are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a surgical system includes a first scope device having a first portion within an extraluminal space and a second portion positioned within an intraluminal space. The first scope device transmits image data of a first scene. A second scope device is disposed within the extraluminal space and transmits image data of a second scene. The first portion of the first instrument is present within the field of view of the second scope device to track the first scope device relative to the second scope device. A controller receives the transmitted image data of the first and second scenes, to determine a relative distance from the first scope device to the second scope device within the extraluminal space, and to provide a merged image. At least one of the first and second scope device in the merged image is a representative depiction thereof.
