A camera comprising a taking lens, a lens support for supporting the taking lens, and a transparent lens cover for shielding the taking lens, is characterized in that the transparent lens cover has a plurality of retaining portions that constitute a single piece with the transparent lens cover and are individually connected to the lens support to hold the taking lens to the lens support, but which can be individually disconnected from the lens support to free the taking lens.

A selected value of attenuation can be inserted in an expanded beam fiber optic connector or coupling component. The attenuator includes a spacer member having planar ends slightly inclined to one another so that the axes of the lenses in the two halves of the connection are caused to be misaligned when the spacer member is disposed between the lenses. An adapter kit is disclosed for modifying an existing connector lacking the ability to selectively attenuate. The kit includes a housing extension member and a spacer member.

An electrooptical scanner includes an optical system having mirrors for directing light from one side of a document through a lens to a charge coupled device and from the other side of the document through the same lens to a different charge coupled device. The scanner scans both sides at the same time using a straight paper path.

Duplex scanner

Connectors for physically and optically connecting optic fibers of the expanded beam type. Each half of the connector includes a lens having a forward surface including a convex portion surrounded by an annular plano portion. Each lens has secured to it a ring member having a circumferential surface coaxial with the lens axis. The lens and ring member are disposed within a tubular member which locates the lens laterally of the axis but gives it small freedom to tilt. The two tubular members are connected by an intermediary member. Biasing means bias the lenses towards one another and hard spheres between the annular plano portions keep their planes parallel.
