A shielded connector assembly for interconnecting individual conductors in an electrical wire harness is provided with a ground ring which eliminates unshielded conductor wire segments after the individual conductor shielding has been stripped. A filter ring assembly is included in the connector assembly for filtering high frequency signals to eliminate cross talk between high and low frequency signal conductors in the same wire harness. Transmission leakage is also eliminated at the juncture between the individual conductors and a circuit board included in the assembly.

Wiring integration/backshell interface connector assembly

Multiple conductor wire harnesses in aircraft or the like are interconnected by a single low profile compact backshell assembly. The backshell assembly includes a housing which shields the individual conductors in the housing from ambient EMI noise. The housing has one or more wire harness inlet assemblies and a plurality of outlet sockets. One or more semi-flexible circuit boards are disposed in the housing and are operable to interconnect the individual conductor wires in each inlet with pin and socket conductor connections at the respective outlets. The circuit board provides interconductor EMI noise shielding inside of the housing. Splice connections between conductors can be formed as necessary within the circuit board inside of the housing to allow any degree of inlet to outlet conductor signal paths to be formed inside of the housing as are desired.

Low profile backshell/wiring integration and interface system

Multi-conductor strand wiring harnesses are connected together by a backshell having several internal semi-flexible circuit boards disposed therein. A minimal non-shielded conductor window is provided between the inlet and outlet connections in the backshell. The backshell is composed of interconnected modules, one of which is connected to each wire harness, and the other of which is mounted on a grounded component of the craft. At least one of the modules contains semi-flexible circuit boards which interconnect input and output conductor pin arrays on the module. The modules are interconnected by mating pin and socket assemblies.

Modular backshell interface system

Multi-conductor strand wiring harnesses are connected together by a backshell having several internal semi-flexible circuit boards disposed therein. A minimal non-shielded conductor window is provided between the inlet and outlet connections in the backshell. The system allows interconnections between round and flat connector pin arrays. The use of multiple circuit boards in the backshell allows a multiplicity of inlet to outlet connections to be made, and also reduces the size and weight of the backshell assembly. Right angle connections are readily made in a minimal spatial envelope.

Backshell interface system

A metallic clamp for an electrical component which rigidly supports the component and its connecting leads in a control panel so that they vibrate in unison in response to oscillations of the panel structure thereby preventing embrittlement and failure of the component leads. The metallic construction of the clamp serves as a heat sink and aids in the transfer of heat within the panel.

Edge notches of various depths in circuit boards correspond with slots of various depths in a card guide so that the boards are not interchangeable.

Circuit boards are retained within a chassis by guides, each having a fixed member and a corresponding floating member that can be clamped tightly against an edge of a board which has been inserted therebetween.

Clamping circuit board guides

An electrical harness interface system including a circuit board (either id or flexible) having one or more electronic modules adapted to be removably secured thereto with each of the modules having a plurality of connectors. An input/output connector and a matrix connector are also provided on the circuit board. The circuit board further includes a plurality of electrical conductors (or traces) interconnecting the electronic modules, the matrix connector, and the input/output connector. The system permits one or more of the electronic modules to be removed and to be replaced with another electronic module having a different electrical function (or logic) and requiring a different electrical connection to the conductors in the circuit board and/or to the input/output connector. This system comprises a plurality of spare connectors for each of the electronic modules and a plurality of spare electrical conductors in the circuit board. A replacement matrix connector is provided having a different connection arrangement therein whereby upon replacing one or more of the electrical modules and, upon removing the original matrix connector, and, upon installing the replacement matrix connector, the other electronic modules may be readily electrically connected to any of the modules or to the input/output connector via the conductors, spare connectors, spare conductors, and replacement matrix connector.
