The invention provides efficient means for dissipating deleterious charge build-up in the glass neck portion of a color cathode ray tube employing an in-line plural beam electron gun assembly. In one embodiment, the invention is comprised of two longitudinal stripes of electrical conductive material oppositely applied on the neck substantially over both narrow sides of the gun assembly. Connective conductors join the stripes to the grounded funnel coating to provide for dissipation of the charge. In another embodiment, the longitudinal stripes are joined by two band-like layers encompassing inter-electrode spacings of the gun assembly.

External neck charge dissipation means for an in-line color cathode ray

The invention relates to incorporating improved beam shielding means into the unitized focusing electrode structure of a plural beam in-line color cathode ray tube electron gun assembly. At least a portion of the G3 electrode structure is fabricated of a magnetic alloy material. Positioned forward and adjacent to the magnetic portion is an apertured planar shielding means also fabricated of magnetic material. The cooperation of these adjoining magnetic areas provides significant shielding of the beams from the deleterious back-field of the deflection yoke.

Cathode ray tube focusing electrode shielding means

A cathode ray tube convergence system includes a cathode ray tube with a plurality of electron beam sources formed to provide electron beams which are underconverged inside of and converged outside of the screen of the tube and a deflection yoke associated with the cathode ray tube and having horizontal deflection windings effecting convergence at the outer ends of the horizontal axis of the cathode ray tube screen.
