A reflex sight for a firearm has a body, a mounting facility, a controller, an actuator, and an illumination facility operably connected to the controller and having a plurality of different operating states. The controller is responsive to sequential actuation of the actuator to cycle among the operating states. The controller is operable to change operation of the illumination facility after a selected duration based on a power consumption characteristic of the operating state.

A system and method for automatic measurement of video parameters for a video sequence using a video processor that has a software waveform monitor implemented as an integral part of a video processing application run by the video processor. Each frame of the processed video sequence, either in realtime as processed by the video processor, in near realtime after storage by the video processor in a storage device, or in the background for each video sequence stored in the storage device, is analyzed against specified parameters for legalization and/or color balancing of the video sequence. The analysis results may be reported as a display in several forms&#x2014;an error image map, an error log, a timeline graphic, etc. The analysis results may also be provided to the video processor for automatic correction of the video sequence when the specified parameters are not satisfied.

A user interface for a traffic load simulator for a telecommunication system divides call traffic into sub-groups of call traffic that have a common characteristic. Such sub-groups may include rush hour callers, lunch time callers, teenagers, internet surfers, business customers and other background callers that do not fit into any one sub-group. Each sub-group is represented as a timeline on a display where the traffic for the sub-group is simulated with ramp up and decline rates corresponding to the rate at which calls are added to the system or disconnected from the system and steady state volume between the ramp up and decline, all as a function of time-of-day. The timelines may be manipulated by graphically changing the rates, steady state volume and time-of-day for the events. In this manner realistic traffic loads on the system may be simulated to determine times and nodes when and where the system may be overwhelmed.

A serial data cursor for extracting content from an analog waveform representing a serial digital data stream has a horizontal length equal to a 'word-time' as determined by parameters of a protocol for the serial digital data stream and a clock recovered from the serial digital data stream. The serial data cursor delimits a portion of the analog waveform, which is then decoded into human readable form, such as binary, octal, hexadecimal, alpha-numeric or the like. A trigger may be generated from a specific parameter of the protocol, such as a frame start, so that the serial data cursor initially highlights a first data word of a frame of the serial digital data stream. Alternatively the decoded portion of the analog waveform may be compared to the specific parameter, and the serial data cursor incremented by a 'bit-time' until the specific parameter is found in the serial digital data stream.

Multiple views of the signal are generated by a time-sharing use of the oscilloscope's acquisition hardware. The instrument software makes a set of measurements of the input signal, and from the results of those measurements classifies the input signal as to type. Signals of particular types implicitly select suites of views of the signal. The operator sees examples of the other views available while a related view is the main view. Alternate views can be &ldquo;live&rdquo; miniature views, and displayed alongside in simplified form, alongside the main view. By clicking on them, these alternative views may be made to become the main view. The operator can add and modify views. Each view comes with a set of measurements that are automatically performed and the results are displayed on the screen as text annotation to the waveform. A different view of the signal comes with different automatic measurements, and presents the results of these measurements as annotations to the waveform image. These next alternative setups may be miniature &ldquo;live&rdquo; displays.

Continually responsive and anticipating automatic setup function for a digital oscilloscope

A method of operating an oscilloscope includes acquiring waveform data using a group of default acquisition parameters, analyzing the acquired waveform data in accordance with a selected one of several rule sets and deriving an optimized group of acquisition parameters. The method then proceeds by acquiring waveform data using the optimized group of acquisition parameters, and displaying the waveform data acquired using the optimized group of acquisition parameters.
