A needleless additive control valve for use with a fluid container containing an infusion liquid and having an intravenous (IV) port for administrating the infusion liquid, and an additive transfer device containing a liquid additive and having a male connector for administrating the liquid additive. The needleless additive control valve includes a trifurcated connector body having an IV spike for sealing insertion into the IV port, an outlet port, and a needleless additive port with a female connector for sealingly receiving the additive transfer device's male connector wherein the IV spike, the outlet port and the needleless additive port are in 3 way direct and continuous fluid communication thereby enabling the additive transfer device's liquid additive to be either mixed with the infusion liquid or directly administered to a patient.

Needleless additive control valve

Fluid control device () including a housing () with a syringe port () for receiving a syringe, a vial adapter port () with a vial adapter () for snap fit receiving a vial, and a drug administration port () for administering a liquid drug. The vial adapter is intended to be rotationally detached after a mixing procedure for discarding together with a spent vial. The fluid control device additionally includes a manually depressed actuator () for sealing pathways which may lead to leakage of liquid drug subsequent to vial adapter detachment, thereby facilitating their use for handling and administration of hazardous liquid drugs. The manually depressed actuator preferably precludes vial adapter detachment prior to actuation, thereby ensuring failsafe operation.

Automatic liquid drug preparation apparatus for preparing a liquid drug assemblage with a predetermined dosage of liquid drug. The liquid drug assemblage is prepared from a preparatory assemblage including a fluid control device having a body member with a syringe port, a vial adapter, and an administration port, a vial pre-filled with powder or liquid medicament, and a syringe pre-filled with diluent for mixing with the medicament. The automatic liquid drug preparation apparatus includes a housing, a cradle for receiving the preparatory assemblage, and a controller for controlling a motorized syringe drive unit for selectively transferring liquid contents between the syringe and the vial, a motorized cradle drive unit for selectively rotating the cradle relative to the housing, and a motorized vial adapter release unit for selectively detaching the vial adapter with its attached spent vial from the body member to form the liquid drug assemblage.

Automatic liquid drug preparation apparatus for the preparation of a predetermined dosage of liquid drug

Liquid drug transfer devices including a vial adapter designed for failsafe correct snap fitting on a medicinal vial for ensuring flow communication with the vial's interior. The vial adapters include at least two non-adjacent vial retention flex members for snap fitting over a vial opening for vial retention purposes and at least two non-adjacent vial guidance flex members longer than their counterpart vial retention flex members for guiding a vial adapter with respect to a vial prior to snap fitting the vial adapter thereon.

Liquid drug transfer devices for failsafe correct snap fitting onto medicinal vials

The present invention relates to liquid drug medical devices for enabling the administration of liquid drugs, and also a needle shield removal device for safely removing needle shields.

Liquid drug medical device

Liquid drug delivery device includes a housing with a syringe port for sealingly receiving a syringe having a syringe tip ending at a widened distal tip, a vial adapter port with a vial adapter for snap fit receiving a vial, and a drug administration port for administering a liquid drug. The vial adapter is intended to be rotationally detached after a mixing procedure for discarding together with a spent vial. The syringe port additionally includes a single use locking mechanism for securing the syringe to preclude inadvertent syringe detachment under normal use including agitation for reconstitution purposes. The drug administration port has a distal tip preferably similar to a syringe's widened distal tip for the same purpose of preventing conventional needles with a female Luer connector being slidingly mounted thereon.

A fluid ducting assembly for enabling flow communication between a syringe and either one of a vessel and a dispenser for dispensing a fluid contained, a priori in the syringe or in the vessel. The fluid ducting assembly includes a base having a first member, a second member, and a third member for connection to and providing flow communication with the syringe, the vessel and the dispenser, respectively. The fluid ducting assembly further includes a flow controller within the base enabling any one of a flow path between the first member and the second member and a flow path between the first member and the third member. The flow controller has either a first operative position in which the flow path between the first member and the second member in enabled or a second operative position in which the flow path between the first member and the third member is enabled. The flow controller being readily switchable from its first operative position to its second operative position but not readily switchable form its second operative position to its first operative position.

Fluid transfer device

Medical device for in situ liquid drug reconstitution in medicinal vessels containing drug contents. The medical device includes a body member having a vessel port for insertion into a medicinal vessel containing drug contents, and a syringe port for receiving a syringe containing a diluent for reconstituting the drug contents into a reconstituted liquid drug. The medical device includes a one-way flow restriction mechanism between the two ports for positively restricting injection of diluent into a medicinal vessel and only slightly restricting aspiration of reconstituted liquid drug therefrom, if at all.

Vial adapter

A fluid transfer and mixing device for use in the aseptic intermixing of a powder component with a fluid component. The device is of a simple, compact construction that includes a first adapter that can be easily connected to a container containing the powder component and a second adapter that can be removably interconnected with the first adapter and can also be readily connected to a container containing a fluid such as a diluent so as to permit aseptic intermixing of the diluent with the powder. In use a conventional needleless syringe can be easily connected to the first adapter so that the mixture of the powder and diluent can be aseptically aspirated from the first container for subsequent delivery to the patient.
