A shaving unit for a dry-shaving apparatus comprises an external first cutting member with an annular wall portion formed with hair-entry apertures, and a second internal cutting member which is cooperable with the first cutting member and which comprises a ring of cutters which second cutting member can be driven relative to the first cutting member with an oscillatory rotational movement. The first and second cutting members are interconnected by at least two resilient elements, each of which extends substantially radially of the rotational axis of the second cutting member and has an end connected to the first cutting member and an end connected to the second cutting member. The elastic properties of the resilient elements are such as to permit the oscillatory rotational movement of the second cutting member, but the resilient elements are rigid in directions extending substantially parallel to and radially of the rotational axis of the second cutting member.

Shaving unit

A shaving apparatus is provided with a shear plate having hair-entry apertures and formed with an inner surface, and a cutting unit associated with and drivable relative to the shear plate. The cutting unit comprises cutting elements extending towards the shear plate, each cutting element having an end surface facing the inner surface of the shear plate and being formed with a cutting edge, and hair-pulling elements respectively associated with the cutting elements and positioned in front of the cutting elements in the direction of driving, each hair-cutting element being rigidly connected to its associated cutting element and having a first end surface portion facing the inner surface of the shear plate and being formed with a contact edge. Each contact edge is situated at a greater distance than its associated cutting edge from the inner surface of the shear plate. Each hair-pulling element also has a second end surface portion adjoining the first end surface portion but situated at a greater distance than the first end surface portion from the inner surface of the shear plate to thereby provide a recess between the end surface of each cutting element and the first end surface portion of its associated hair-pulling element.

Shaving apparatus

There is provided a shaving apparatus comprising an external cutting element and an internal cutting element cooperating with and drivable relative to the external cutting element with a reciprocating movement. The internal cutting element is secured to the external cutting element by means of a connecting element which is flexible in the direction of driving and is rigid in directions extending substantially transversely of the direction of driving. The external cutting element is formed as a U-shaped part from a sheet material. The internal cutting element together with the connecting element constitutes a strip also made of a sheet material and positioned between the legs of the U-shaped part. The internal cutting element is situated at the end of the strip near the transverse portion of the U-shaped part; and the other end of the strip is connected to the legs of the U-shaped part.

There is provided an epilation apparatus comprising a drivable member having a hair-gripping wall, and a stationary complementary member having a confronting wall spaced from the hair-gripping wall of the drivable member to provide a hair gap therebetween.
