A filter for an air conditioner has a body formed of an air-transmissive material. The body is of a generally rectangular configuration and has a top, bottom, a front, a back and a pair of sides. The body has a plurality of cuts formed through a thickness thereof. The plurality of cuts define a plurality of cubical members frangibly connected together. The plurality of cubical members are separable from a remainder of the body such that the body has a size suitable for being received within a filter-receiving receptacle of the air conditioner.

An apparatus for operating a remote controlled airplane including a frame, a remote control unit received within the frame and having first and second joystick elements, a joystick controller cantably mounted to the frame so as to have a forward/backward movement and a side-to-side movement, a first linkage connected to the joystick controller and to the first joystick element and adapted to cause an up-and-down movement of tie first joystick element relative to the forward/backward movement of the joystick controller, and a second linkage connected to the joystick controller and to the first joystick element. The second linkage is adapted to cause a side-to-side movement of the first joystick element relative to the side-to-side movement of the joystick controller. A pedal structure is pivotally mounted to the frame so as to be pivotable about a central axis. A third linkage connects the pedal structure to the second joystick element. A throttle member is pivotally connected to the frame and has a fourth linkage connected to the second joystick element. A pair of front wheels are rotatably mounted to a forward end of the frame and a third wheel is rotatably mounted in a transverse plane to a rearward end of the frame. An actuator mounted on the joystick controller causes a motor to drive the rear wheel.

Isophthalic acid is commonly utilized as a comonomer in the preparation of copolyester resins which are utilized as solution adhesives. Unfortunately, solutions of such resins frequently become hazy due to the presence of cyclic oligomers. This invention is based upon the unexpected discovery that the presence of protonic acids during the synthesis of the copolyester resins containing isophthalic acid utilizing conventional metallic catalysts results in solutions of the resins in organic solvents being virtually haze free. The subject invention more specifically reveals a process for synthesizing a polyethylene terephthalate/isophthalate/azelate copolyester resin which is particularly useful as a solution adhesive resin, comprising reacting ethylene glycol with a diacid component which is comprised of (a) from about 25 to about 45 mole percent terephthalic acid, (b) from about 10 to about 30 mole percent isophthalic acid, and (c) from about 30 to about 55 mole percent azelaic acid based upon the diacid component; in the presence of at least one metallic catalyst selected from the group consisting of antimony compounds, titanium compounds; manganese compounds, and germanium compounds and in the presence of at least one protonic acid having a pKa of less than about 2.5; wherein the amount of metallic catalyst present is within the range of about 130 ppm to about 1500 ppm and wherein the amount of protonic acid present is within the range of about 50 ppm to about 500 ppm, with said amounts being based upon the weight of the copolyester resin produced.

Process for the synthesis of a copolyester adhesive resin

A polyester which when made into an article such as films, containers, bottles and the like has a very high clarity, a low haze value, and a neutral hue. In the preparation of the resin, an antimony catalyst is utilized along with small amounts of a bluing agent such as a cobalt compound and a phosphate compound with the phosphate compound generally being slightly in excess of an equivalent amount of the cobalt compound. The polyester is made from dicarboxylic acids and preferably aromatic acids such as terephthalic acid reacted with polyhydric alcohols.

Specific color imparting compounds, including pigments and catalysts are used to produce a polyester resin having a green color. The compounds are added during polymerization of the polymer and the resins produced can be utilized to make various containers or packages to hold liquids or solids.

Composition and process for making a green colored polyester

The polyesters are endcapped by reacting them generally with substituted benzoyl-lactams or substituted benzoyl-phthalimides at a temperature usually above the melting point of the polyester to form a benzoyl end group. Such endcapped polymers have improved properties such as thermal-oxidative aging, molecular weight retention, tensile strength retention, and improved stability.
