Improving EIRP may include sending a trigger frame to a client and receiving an uplink transmission from the client in response. A client Transmission (TX) power and a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) associated with the client may be determined using the uplink transmission. Next, a client location may be determined. A pathloss associated with the client may be determined using the client location and the uplink transmission. A directional gain may then be determined using the client TX power, the pathloss, and the RSSI. An array gain is determined based on the directional gain. An Access Point (AP) TX power is adjusted based on the array gain.

Techniques herein facilitate dynamic configuration of a wireless local area network (WLAN) for large public venue (LPV) environments. In one example, a method may include providing an initial configuration for access points APs of a WLAN for an event at an LPV based on a profile for the event, a location of each AP for the venue, and anticipated demand at the APs; determining, for a particular time for the event, a distribution of wireless devices and channel support capabilities of the wireless devices different locations for the LPV; and providing an updated configuration for one or more APs at the one or more locations for the venue based on the distribution of the wireless devices and the channel support capabilities of the wireless devices determined for the particular time for the event at the LPV.

System, methods, and computer-readable media for switching a dynamic radio of a single RU between Radio Access Technology (RAT) protocols based on a Software-Defined RAN intelligent controller (SD-RIC). The SD-RIC efficiently assigning RAN resources by converting a radio access point to either 5G or Wi-Fi based on the load conditions and the number of users seen on the network, so that it appropriately servers the customer and end devices. To determine the load conditions may be based on active users on a particular cell, and then the resource utilization cue is a connection latency. A single radio unit includes a primary radio and a secondary radio, each being independently tuned. The primary radio is static while a secondary one can be influenced based on the conditions, turning into N-RU or Wi-Fi.

A method comprises: at a radio access network configured to communicate with a user equipment (UE) wirelessly, an access and mobility management function (AMF), and a positioning service, and through which the UE attached to a network using an attach procedure with the AMF: upon receiving a request for a location of the UE from the positioning service, scheduling resource blocks, configured for acquiring location measurements, across multiple radio units (RUs) of the radio access network, such that the resource blocks are synchronized in time and frequency across the multiple RUs; by the multiple RUs, exchanging, with the UE, the resource blocks as synchronized, and acquiring the location measurements from the multiple RUs based on exchanging; and forwarding the location measurements to the positioning service to enable the positioning service to determine the location of the UE based on the location measurements.

A method, computer system, and computer program product are provided for prioritizing network traffic. An indication is received at a network controller that an alarm is activated at a physical site. A request is received from a user device to join a network at the physical site that is under control of the network controller, wherein the request includes a flag indicating an identity of a user of the user device and a priority status of the user. In response to authenticating the identity of the user via an identity provider server, the user device is authorized to join the network. Based on verifying the priority status of the user using the flag and authentication via the identity provider server, network traffic for the user device is prioritized.

Prioritizing network traffic for emergency services

Methods and systems for distinguishing between radar signals and Wi-Fi signals are provided. When a set of electromagnetic signals are received, various tests are performed on the signals to determine if the signals are associated with radar pulses or if the signals are more likely to be associated with stray Wi-Fi signals or other non-radar interference. One such test relies on the relatively small variance of frequencies used by radar pulses when compared to the high variation of Wi-Fi signals. Another test relies on the relatively low peak to average power ratio of signals associated with radar pulses when compared to Wi-Fi signals. The tests described herein are an improvement on existing methods for distinguishing radar signals from Wi-Fi signals and result in less switching of Wi-Fi channels due to erroneously detected radar signals.

Systems and methods for reducing false radar detection

A multi-mode radio unit, and more specifically providing a multi-mode radio unit having a 7.2 split mode and a full gNodeB (gNB) mode may be provided. A 7.2 split mode may be executed at a Multi-Mode Radio Unit (MMRU). Next a metric associated with a front-haul link between the MMRU and a Distributed Unit (DU) may be monitored. The metric may be compared to a first threshold, and when the metric is above the first threshold, the MMRU may be caused to switch from the 7.2 split mode to a full gNodeB (gNB) mode.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for an integrated Wi-Fi Access Point and cellular network Radio Unit (RU) include a communication system interfacing with a wired network for communicating Wi-Fi traffic and cellular network traffic, the communication system integrating a Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) with a cellular network Radio Unit (RU). The Wi-Fi traffic and cellular network traffic can be processed in the communication system. The communication system can interface with at least one programmable Radio Frequency (RF) front end configured for wireless communication over one or more frequency bands for Wi-Fi traffic and one or more frequency bands for cellular network traffic (e.g., 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi).

Real-time radio self-calibration may be provided. The self-calibration may begin by sampling a Transmission (TX) signal. An achievable Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) for one or more frames may be determined based on the TX signal. Link budgets for clients may be determined using a TX power and a supported Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS). A per packet TX power is adjusted based on the achievable EVM and a TX retry rate. The PA linearity of the radio may also be adjusted based on the achievable EVM and the link budget. The client may be regrouped into a new MCS based on the link budget.

Crest Factor Reduction (CFR) parameters are determined for a dual band Power Amplifier (PA). A first band of the dual band PA is associated with a first Multi-Link Operation (MLO) link and a second band of the dual band PA is associated with a second MLO link. Determining the CFR parameters comprises determining based on a configuration of the first MLO link and the second MLO link. A first portion of the CFR parameters is provided to a first crest factor reduction block. First portion of the CFR parameters comprises a first clipping threshold associated with the first band and first filter coefficients associated with the first band. A second portion of the CFR parameters is provided to a second crest factor reduction block. The second portion of the CFR parameters comprises a second clipping threshold associated with the second band and second filter coefficients associated with the second band.

A method for calibrating a magnetometer of a device is provided. The method includes collecting, with a portable calibration device having a magnetometer, magnetic field measurements in a spatial region about a mounting location where the device is to be installed for operation, estimating magnetometer compensation parameters to correct for magnetic field distortion at the mounting location based on the magnetic field measurements collected by the portable calibration device, and configuring the device installed at the mounting location based on the magnetometer compensation parameters.

Embodiments herein describe mounting one or more lasers onto an AP to generate a laser pattern on a surface representing the coverage area of an antenna in the AP. In one embodiment, the antenna is a steerable antenna that can be electronically or mechanical steered to point to different directions (without moving the AP as a whole). The laser or lasers can be used to visualize the coverage area of the steerable antenna when pointing in different directions. Advantageously, a technician can use the laser or lasers to identify a location where, if steered, the antenna would provide the desired coverage area. The technician can then steer the antenna to point in that direction to provide the desired radio frequency (RF) coverage.

In one embodiment, a system for allocating clients between radios of an access point is disclosed. The system includes a first antenna coupled to a first radio, a second antenna coupled to a second radio, and a monitoring radio coupled to the first antenna and second antenna. The system includes computer-readable instructions that cause the system to receive at the monitoring radio, a first client attribute from each of a plurality of first client devices, and a second client attribute from each of a plurality of second client devices, and provide each aforementioned attribute to an optimization function. The system determines, with the optimization function, that one of the first radio and second radio will optimize performance for at least one device of the plurality of first client devices and second client devices and steer the at least one device accordingly.
