An example electronic device includes an active digital pen sensor surface to generate analog position information, wherein the active digital pen sensor surface includes a projective capacitive sensor layer with a variance of sheet resistance of less than plus or minus 20 percent. The electronic device also includes a controller, including a sigma-delta analog-to-digital (A-to-D) converter, to generate digital pen position information based on the analog position information, and perform a triangulation based on the digital pen position information to determine a pen position.

Determining locations of electro-optical pens. An example apparatus includes a distance determiner to determine a distance of a pen to a scribing surface based on a first image output by a first imager of the pen and a second image output by a second imager of the pen, the first image associated with a first plane of view and the second image associated with a second plane of view; a tilt orientation determiner to determine a tilt orientation of the scribing surface relative to the pen; a corrector to adjust at least one of the first plane of view or the second plane of view based on the tilt orientation of the scribing surface; and a location determiner to determine a location of the pen relative to the scribing surface based on the at least one of the adjusted first plane of view or the adjusted second plane of view.

Determining locations of electro-optical pens

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, an electronic input device is described. The electronic input device includes a scribing shaft disposed within a housing, the scribing shaft to translate along a longitudinal axis as a result of contact with a substrate. The electronic input device also includes an input sensor. The input sensor includes a plate secured within the housing. The plate elastically deforms responsive to the translation of the scribing shaft. A full-bridge strain gauge of the input sensor is disposed on a surface of the plate. The full-bridge strain gauge detects a deformation of the plate and outputs a corresponding signal, which corresponding signal varies dependent upon the amount of deformation of the plate. The input sensor also includes a failure protection device to limit the deformation of the plate to within a predetermined amount.

Scribing shaft sensors

In one example, an electronic input device is described. The electronic input device includes a cylindrical shaft including a tip. A sensor housing of the electronic input device is disposed within an external housing. The sensor housing is parallel with, and surrounds, the cylindrical shaft. The electronic input device also includes a radial sensor(s) disposed on an inside diameter of the sensor housing. The sensor(s) are to sense, directly from the tip, radial force inputs against the tip.

Determining locations of electro-optical pens. A disclosed example includes, a distance determiner to determine a distance from a pen to a scribing plane at a plurality of points to produce a plurality of distance measurements, a tilt orientation determiner to determine a tilt orientation of the scribing plane relative to the pen based on the plurality of distance measurements, a plane of view corrector to, based on the tilt orientation of the scribing plane, correct a plane of view associated with at least one of the first perspective and the second perspective, and a coordinate determiner to determine coordinates of the pen based on the corrected plane of view. A location determiner determines the location of the pen on a display based on the coordinates.

Styli for generating alert notifications to prevent unintentional marking of interactive devices are disclosed. A disclosed stylus includes a housing and a processor. The housing is to interchangeably receive a physically marking nib and an electronic marking nib. The processor is carried by the housing. The processor is to determine a received nib is the physically marking nib. The processor is further to determine a distance between the stylus and an interactive device satisfies a threshold. The processor is further to generate an alert notification based on the received nib being the physically marking nib and the distance between the stylus and the interactive device satisfying the threshold.

Examples disclosed herein involve calibrating an input device to a display using the input device. An example method includes determining first coordinates of a position-encoded film corresponding to a location of an input device relative to the position-encoded film of a display of a computing device based on first position points of the position-encoded film, determining second coordinates of a pixel array corresponding to the location of the input device relative to the pixel array of the display based on a first reference pixel of the display, measuring a first offset between the first coordinates of the position-encoded film and the second coordinates of the pixel array, and calculating a calibration transformation to control the computing device based on the first offset.

Positional input systems and methods are provided. Using a handheld device comprising a detector, to which display of a plurality of displays a detector is proximate may be determined. Using the detector, at least a part of an optical pattern disposed on the display to which the detector is proximate may be detected. Embodiments herein relate to loading boot data. In an embodiment, a device loads boot data from a first portion of a first non-volatile memory to complete a first booting of the device. The first portion of the first non-volatile memory is then released to allow the device to overwrite the first portion. Next, the boot data is written to the first non-volatile memory before the device enters a reduced power state. The written boot data is to be loaded from the first non-volatile memory to complete a second booting of the device, if the second booting is initiated.
