In various embodiments, a tubular comprises a tubular outer sheath defining an inner void; one or more core elements or assemblies disposed within the inner void; and a substantially solid filler in various embodiments disposed within and substantially filling the inner void, where the filler is adapted to give the tubular hoop strength in a crush situation and comprises a polymer with a density of at least 1.0. In some embodiments, these core assemblies comprise an extruded polymer layer typically extruded about core elements in a single pass, fitting about them without a sharp edge and defining an outer shape. The resulting tubular can comprise multiple regions which, though substantially filled, are filled with differing fillers densities.

Extruded encapsulated fillers to provide crush protection

A high pressure hose for use within an umbilical includes a hose liner tube surrounded by a first reinforcement layer comprised substantially of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibers and a second reinforcement layer surrounding the first reinforcement layer. The second layer comprises at least 50% aramid fibers. The hose has an outer thermoplastic extruded hose jacket.

Umbilical hose with improved cyclic ovalisation resistance

The present invention relates to fluid conduit () suitable for use in the transportation of working fluids to a wellhead or the like from a topside location or the like. The fluid conduit () is suitable for use in a multi-conduit umbilical. The conduit comprises an inner flexible collapse resistant hose () surrounded by a hose liner (), and at least one pair of helically contra-wound high tensile wires (). Each turn of each wire () is in substantially close contact with adjacent turns thereof. A multi-conduit umbilical comprising a plurality of the fluid conduits bundled together and provided with an outer sheath is also described.

Fluid conduit

The present invention relates to a fluid conduit, and to a multi-conduit umbilical for use in the transportation of chemicals with small molecular size and shape e.g. methanol ethanol and other hydrocarbon fluids used in the oil industry. The conduit comprises a flexible fluid hose encapsulated by at least one metallized layer which is formed and arranged to minimize permeation of a fluid being transported in the fluid hose. In use in a multi-conduit umbilical the metallised layer minimizes permeation into adjacent fluid hoses containing chemicals. The invention is characterized in that the fluid hose(s) have differing levels of encapsulation and thereby permeation, along a given length according to the operational requirements of the fluid conduit/umbilical. Typically such fluid conduits/umbilicals will have lengths in excess of 100 km.
