A crank preload collar assembly is disclosed. The crank preload collar assembly includes a preload collar body having an axial opening therein to fit around a spindle of a crank assembly. The crank preload collar assembly also includes a clampable opening formed in a portion of the preload collar body. A cam lever is coupled with both sides of the clampable opening, wherein the cam lever provides a clamping force to the preload collar body with respect to the spindle.

Disclosed herein is a threaded bottom bracket comprising: an internal sleeve, a ball bearing, wherein an inner race of the ball bearing is an extended inner race, a cup fit to concentrically hold the ball bearing, wherein the cup is coupled to the internal sleeve, a labyrinth, the labyrinth coupled to the ball bearing and fit to prevent water and debris from entering the ball bearing, wherein the labyrinth and the cup form a path, and a rotary seal disposed between the ball bearing and the labyrinth, the rotary seal having an external seal that seals against the extended inner race.

The insert is metallic and has a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), the insert comprising an outer wall of a first retaining feature; and an undercut shape formed exterior to the outer wall of the first retaining feature such that there is a groove between the outer wall of the first retaining feature and the undercut shape. A composite component having a second CTE different from the first CTE, wherein the insert including the groove is at least partially within the composite component when the composite component is being formed, such that the difference in the first CTE and the second CTE causes the groove between the outer wall of the first retaining feature and the undercut shape of the insert to contract about the composite component to provide a compression to a portion of the composite component within the groove.
