A cable for connecting a cardiac pacemaker to an electrode inserted in the heart through the blood stream utilizes a die-clad conductor or a number ofthem, especially several die-clad strands forming a twisted conductor of the stranded type, enclosed in a covering tube of a synthetic elastomer. The core of each die-clad strand is of a highly conducting metal, such as copper or a high-copper alloy. The outer cladding is a metal selected from the group consisting of tantalum, titanium, zirconium, niobium, titanium-base alloys, platinum, platinum-iridium alloys, platinum-palladium alloys and platinum-rhodium alloys. The cladding thickness is in the range from 0.0025 to 0.035 mm, while the cord diameter is between 0.04 to 0.3 mm. When tantalum, titanium, zirconium, niobium or titanium-alloy cladding is used, the outer surface can be made electrically insulating, preferably by anodizing.

Electrode connecting cable for cardiac pacemaker

A porous electrode, particularly a cardiac pacemaker electrode is described which is implantable in organic tissue. The electrode has a sintered member made of electrically conductive particles. In a portion of the electrode surface the particles are covered wtih a material of lower electrical conductivity than that of the particles. Another portion of the surface is coated with a metal inert to body fluids. Suitable materials for the particles are metals or alloys from the group containing tantalum, titanium, mobium, zirconium as well as cobalt-chromium-based alloys.

Implantable electrode

A heater plug comprising a heater coil connected to a terminal pin, said terminal pin maintained in gas-tight manner at least in part within and insulated from a plug shell, at least the surface of said heater coil formed by a metal or a base alloy of a metal of the platinum group said heater coil supported by heat electrically insulating rod-like or tubular supporting body heater coil surrounded by a protective tube. The heater plug is useful as a starting aid for diesel engines and other internal combustion engines, especially those without spark ignitions.

A heater plug comprising a heater coil connected to a terminal pin, said terminal pin maintained in gas-tight manner at least in part within and insulated from a plug shell, at least the surface of said heater coil formed by a metal or a base alloy of a metal of the platinum group said heater coil supported by heat resistant electrically insulating rod-like or tubular supporting body heater coil surrounded by a protective tube. The heater plug is useful as a starting aid for diesel engines and other internal combustion engines, especially those without spark ignitions.

An improved method for preparing a dental prosthetic construction such as a crown or bridge is described by applying a dental ceramic composition to a base of a precious metal silver-containing alloy, drying it and firing the same. In accordance with the improvement, the firing is conducted in a reducing atmosphere.

Method of preparing ceramic-coated dental prosthetic constructions

Essentially spherical gold particles are mixed with an evaporatable or combustible paste-forming material, for example terpineol and ethylcellulose, the gold being, by weight, 75% to 95%, spherical, and having a diameter of between 0.8 to 1.2 .mu.m, with a maximum particle diameter of 2 .mu.m. The gold is mixed with the additives to form a paste, just before being applied at a thickness of from between 5 to 30 .mu.m on a dental prosthesis, preferably about 10 to 20 .mu.m, and then fired at a temperature of between about 950.degree. C. to 1070.degree. C. for a period of between 2-5 minutes, preferably about 960.degree. to 1000.degree. C. of from between 2-3 minutes, providing an excellent base for application of a porcelain layer thereto.

Dental composition from gold particles, terpineol and ethyl cellulose

A crucible, especially for containing melts, has multi-layered walls with an inner core of heat resistant material. A continuous coating layer of temperature resistant material is supported on the core. The coating layer at least partially defines a reservoir for melts to be contained in the crucible, and is composed of material resistant to attack by hot melts.

The present invention provides electrical contacts having at least one contact surface consisting essentially of a silver palladium alloy containing 10-50 percent by weight palladium, 0.1-8 percent copper, 0.1-6 percent indium, 0.1-6 percent tin, and the balance essentially silver.

The material is applied to a substrate, for example, terminal bronze, brass, or the like, and comprises, preferably, 50 to 55% gold, 24 to 28% palladium, 15 to 20% silver, 2.5 to 3% tin, 0.08 to 0.15% iridium, 0.08 to 0.15% ruthenium, 0.1 to 0.3% copper and 0.6 to 1% indium.
