The present invention relates to a ticket management apparatus (TMA) for cashless operation of gaming machines (-), comprising a ticketing device (-) for inputting and outputting tickets () containing gaming data () and at least one data management device (-). The data management device (-) includes a gaming machine interface (GMIa-GMIn) for exchanging gaming data () with a controller (-) of a gaming machine (-), a ticketing device interface (TDIa-TDIn) for exchanging gaming data () with that ticketing device (-), a processor unit (-), a memory unit (-) and an external communication interface (ECIa-ECIn) for exchanging gaming data () with one or more devices () external to that ticket management apparatus (TMA).

Various type of jackpot systems are disclosed wherein visible jackpots are replenished after a win by an invisible jackpot. Some embodiments include: replenishing the visible jackpot with less than 100% of the invisible jackpot; increasing the invisible jackpot at a rate faster than the rate at which the visible jackpot is increased; having a criteria for a win of the jackpot based on the amount of the invisible jackpot; and using multiple visible and invisible jackpots in various ways.

Gaming machine with hidden jackpot

A jackpot system used in casinos for allocating the wins from at least one jackpot to players playing at a plurality of gaming positions. The gaming positions are associated with a computer network including a computing engine having a memory for receiving inputs from the gaming positions and at least one output for communicating information to the players. At least one paytable is stored in that memory or in another memory associated with the computer network. The paytable can be configured by an operator and has a plurality of possible winning entries and wins associated with the winning entries. A selection generator is triggered at least once, via the computer network, by a trigger input generated in response to the playing of each game of a group of selected games to generate a selection. The selection is compared with the paytable and if the selection corresponds to a winning entry, the associated win is transferred to at least one player associated with the gaming position which triggered the selection, and/or to another jackpot.

Method of playing roulette with a system including a roulette wheel, a conventional betting layout and a progressive jackpot layout. Players make wages on the conventional layout and/or the progressive layout to participate in a progressive jackpot game wherein the jackpot is accumulated from losing wagers on the progressive jackpot layout. The system includes sensors for detecting chips placed on the progressive layout. The jackpot is won by a wagered winning number being selected by the roulette wheel in a predetermined number of successive spins.
