The invention relates to an emission tip assembly () on high-voltage electrodes for charging or discharging substrates, comprising at least one emission tip () and a carrier body () comprised of an insulating material, which has at least one high-resistance series resistor (), wherein the at least one emission tip () can be connected to a high-voltage connection () by means of the series resistor (). In order to have available an assembly of emission tips which, despite protrusion from the carrier body () thereof to an extent in principle and despite the metal profiled element () provided with the insulating potting mass (), causes no injuries in the event of unintentional and intentional contact and thus permits safe handling together with high efficiency of the assembly, the emission tip () is formed of a spring metal and forms an elastic spring element, and a free end of the emission tip () is freely spaced apart from the carrier body (), the particular metal profiled element () and the insulating potting mass (), as a corona tip (). In addition the range effect of a discharge electrode is improved by the guiding of an auxiliary air quantity () directly to the corona tip ().

Emission tip assembly and method for operating same

An impression roller for gravure printing for use with an electrostatic printing aid, including an axis member or a shaft, joined axially to a steel core, an electrical inner insulating layer extending radially around the core, an electrically semi-conductive outer layer adjoining the outside of the impression layer, and an electrically highly conductive conductor layer arranged between the two. The conductor layer is encapsulated in an electrically insulated exterior. The impression roller is provided with an electric or electronic encapsulated circuit electrically insulated from the outside and having two poles, which is of low resistance in normal operation when the electric current flows from its positive pole to its negative pole and is of high resistance when the flow direction is opposite. The inner pole and outer pole of the circuit are connected to the conductor layer by an inner and outer connection of the impression roller respectively.

A device for moistening a material web moved in the transport direction, is preferably used for re-moistening a paper or textile web dried after printing by means of spray device for spraying a water fog onto the material web under the influence of an electrostatic field produced by a device for electrostatic charging. The device includes a reversing roller provided in the transport direction upstream of the spray device for deflecting the material web. The reversing roller has associated with it a device designed as a corona-charging electrode for electrostatic charging and the spray device has two water spray heads located on both sides of the material web.

Compound surface-charging electrode

A pressure cylinder is accommodated in a printing assembly and provided with electrostatically assisted ink transfer. Its shaft is mounted in the framework of a printing press. It has a semiconductive jacket that is mounted over a steel surface and can be electrically charged. The shaft is electrically connected to the surface of the cylinder and electrically insulated from the framework. An electric potential can be applied to the shaft in order to charge the semiconductive jacket.

Pressure cylinder with electrostatically assisted ink transfer

A counter pressure cylinder including an electrostatic printing assist system, with the counter pressure cylinder including an insulating jacket having a conductive coating thereof over which a further coating is arranged having limited conductivity. A primary winding, concentric to an electrically grounded axle or shaft of the counter pressure cylinder, is disposed beside the counter pressure cylinder in a fixed fashion with respect to the printing unit, and a secondary winding is mounted concentrically to the electrically grounded shaft of the counter pressure cylinder at one end face of the counter pressure cylinder in a fixed fashion with respect to the counter pressure cylinder. An electrical connection of the secondary winding is connected to the axle of shaft of the counter pressure cylinder and another electrical connection is connected to the coating by way of a rectifier circuit.

A method for electrostatic assistance of the printing process in printing machines, in which method a printing substrate, being of a material which is not electrically conductive, is passed between a printing cylinder coated with printing ink and a contact pressure roller which mechanically presses the substrate against the cylinder and which is provided with a non-conductive or weakly-conductive outer layer, during which procedure the application of a high voltage between the printing cylinder and at least one of the electrode arrangements running in a longitudinal direction to the contact pressure roller results in electrons and ions being sprayed by corona discharge onto the surface of the contact pressure roller, which, as a result of its rotating and/or its intrinsic conductivity conveys these charged particles into the printing gap and enables them to flow off over this gap, and also a corresponding printing machine.
