A method and a device for breaking up a fresh and hot coke charge in a receiving trough having mobile plate segments, the coke charge being conveyed to a quenching tower in the receiving trough of a flatbed transport car in which the coke charge is cooled down to ambient temperatures by mobile plate segments so that the coke structure is broken up and crevice-type cavities are formed in the compacted coke charge. These crevice-type cavities then allow an increased amount of water to flow into the interior of the coke charge during the subsequent quenching step, resulting in a high profitability of the method, a higher coke quality and a reduced burden on the environment due to reduced quenching times and lower water consumption. A device for carrying out the method is also disclosed.

A method for coking coals having high driving pressure properties in a 'non-recovery' or 'heat-recovery' coking oven, wherein a coking oven battery which is composed of coking oven chambers arranged side by side is used for cyclic coking of coal, and wherein an amount of coal preheated to a high temperature is admitted into the coking chamber that is to be filled at such a level that the driving pressure resulting from the coking can escape over the coke cake into the gas chamber, in such a manner that the coking oven chamber wall surrounding the coking oven chamber is relieved by the driving pressure resulting from the coking. Also disclosed is a device with which this method can be carried out.

Method and device for coking coal mixtures having high driving pressure properties in a 'non-recovery' or 'heat-recovery' coking oven

The invention relates to a method of positioning service equipment of a coal-charging larry cart at charging ports of a coke oven, wherein a rail-guided larry cart is moved on the roof of a coke oven and is positioned at locations known by a machine control system and corresponding to charging ports in the oven roof in order to charge the oven chambers, and wherein then at least one piece of service equipment of the coal-charging larry cart is guided to the charging ports by horizontal biaxial positioning movements. According to the invention, an optical measurement method is used after each positioning of the larry cart to detect the coordinates of at least one marking that is applied to the oven roof and that has a fixed relationship with the center axis of a charging port within a measurement field that is predefined by the measurement method and to compare them with reference values that are stored in the machine control system for the marking. The deviations between the measured coordinates and the coordinates stored in the machine control system are determined for both axial directions. Differential values are then taken into account as correction values during the positioning movement of the piece of service equipment. The subject matter of the invention is furthermore formed by an apparatus for carrying out the described method.

Method and device for the positioning of operating units of a coal filling cart at the filling openings of a coke oven

A device for latching of horizontal coke oven chambers which is triggered by an auxiliary frame located on the coke oven chamber door is provided. The auxiliary frame is restrictively movable in vertical direction on the coke oven chamber door. During the outward movement, the auxiliary frame hits upwardly against limit stop cams firmly mounted on the oven door and transmitting the vertical traction force onto the coke oven chamber door. During the upward movement, the auxiliary frame actuates levers which are rotationally movable to an axis arranged orthogonally to the coke oven chamber and which are connected to a translatorily freely movable latch. On actuation of this lever, it pulls the latch from the latch take-up bearings mounted on the coke oven chamber door so that the coke oven chamber door is unlatched and opened. In an embodiment of the present invention, the coke oven chamber door can be arrested the open or closed position with a device suitable for this purpose.

Mechanism for the autonomous latching of coke oven chamber doors for horizontal coke oven chambers

A coal-charging larry cart for lifting lids out of charging holes in the roof of a coke oven and for cleaning the charging-hole jambs has a lid lifter with a lift magnet and a jamb cleaner with a cleaning head. Respective travel frames are horizontally movable on rails on the cart in a first horizontal direction, and respective support frames inside the respective travel frames are each movable relative to the respective travel frame in a second horizontal direction transverse to the first direction. Respective carriages horizontally displaceable in the first direction on the support frames carry the support arms for horizontal movement of each of the support arms relative to the respective support frame between an operating position in which the lift magnet or the cleaning head is aligned with a charging hole in the roof of the coke oven and a rest position spaced from the charging hole.

Apparatus on a coal-charging larry cart for lifting a lid and cleaning a charging hole

A method for production of coke chamber-compatible coal briquettes. Horizontally feeding coal into a pressing mold formed from a plate having two parallel terminating walls, which are stationary with respect to the direction of movement of the plate, and a terminating stop wall disposed transversely to the direction of movement of the plate. The side of the pressing mold open to coal is closed by a stationary wall, and the plate is locked in the horizontal direction for the pressing operation. The coal is compacted by a tamping device, having a vertically acting force onto pressing mold to produce a coal briquette. After completion of the coal briquette, the plate is moved horizontally in the longitudinal direction so that the space in the pressing mold becoming free in the horizontal direction is used for producing the next coal briquette. A device for carrying out the method is also disclosed.

Method and device for the successive production of coal briquettes compatible with a coke chamber

An apparatus for charging chambers of a coke oven has a horizontal screw conveyor with a downwardly open outlet and a telescopic charging chute below the outlet having an upper intake funnel and a telescopic lower part alignable with the charging ports by horizontal and longitudinal displacement. A support frame carries the intake funnel and a lifter for vertically displacing the telescopic lower part. A traveling frame in which the support frame moves transversely can also move longitudinally on rails. A seal on a top side of the support frame surrounds the intake funnel of the telescopic charging chute, works together with a horizontal lower flange surface on the outlet of the horizontal screw conveyor, and permits horizontal movement of the intake funnel relative to the outlet of the horizontal screw conveyor.

Device for filling oven chambers of a coke oven

A coking oven has a battery of longitudinally extending and transversely spaced coking chambers each provided with a plurality of downwardly open and longitudinally spaced filling holes. Coal is charged into the chambers through the respective filling holes. A respective longitudinally movable leveling rod in each of the chambers can level coal charged by the filling equipment into the chambers. Sensors provided on the leveling rods scan from above transversely and longitudinally spaced points on a surface of the coal charged through the holes into the respective chambers. A controller connected to the sensors records a respective measurement corresponding to a vertical position of the surface at each the points and determines from the measurements thereof a three-dimensional filling-level profile of the surface of the charged coal for controlling operation of the filling equipment and filling of the chambers with the coal.

A coking plant first and second longitudinally extending rows of oven chambers all of generally the same width and generally the same longitudinal spacing and together defining a corridor into which the chambers all open. The first and second rows are longitudinally offset from each other by a predetermined distance that is greater than the oven-chamber width A device for servicing the oven chambers and movable longitudinally in the corridor between the two rows of oven chambers has first and second service machines transversely facing the respective first and second rows and operable to service the chambers thereof. A coupling of variable longitudinal length between the first and second machines operable can vary the longitudinal spacing between the two machines.

This invention relates to a coking oven in flat-type construction, a non-recovery or heat-recovery coking oven, which has at least one measuring apparatus for measuring the concentration of gaseous constituents of the coke oven retort, the coke oven hearth and/or the off gas duct, and in which, on the basis of these data, a process control computer determines and regulates the optimal supply of primary and/or secondary air. Also embraced by the invention is a coking method employing a coking oven of this kind.

A slight, constant positive pressure can be applied to the common air feed system.

Feeding of combustion air for coke ovens

A process and device are disclosed for producing horizontally tamped coal cakes for coking in the oven chamber of a coking oven, the coal cakes being formed in a compression mold by stationary compression tools which work in the horizontal direction and with a stroke having a strictly limited length. The compression mold has a sliding stop wall which is moved away from the compression tools as the coal cake grows, under the effect of a suitable antagonistic braking force.
