A surgical tool adaptor includes a distal interface member and a proximal holder. The surgical tool adaptor is formed with a lumen through the distal interface member and the proximal holder for passing a guiding element (e.g., K-wire) distally through the distal interface member. The proximal holder includes a locking element for locking the guiding element in the lumen and the distal interface member includes a connecting element for connecting to a surgical tool. The proximal holder is movable relative to the distal interface member so that the proximal holder is movable to a position wherein the guiding element does not protrude proximally out of the proximal holder.

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) assembly

A surgical tool adaptor () includes a distal interface member () and a proximal holder (). The surgical tool adaptor is formed with a lumen () through the distal interface member and the proximal holder for passing a guiding element (), e.g. a K-wire, distally through the distal interface member. The proximal holder includes a locking element () for locking the guiding element in the lumen and the distal interface member includes a connecting element () for connecting to a surgical tool. The proximal holder is movable relative to the distal interface member so that the proximal holder is movable to a position wherein the guiding element does not protrude proximally out of the proximal holder.

An actuating element for actuating an instrument for performing minimally invasive interventions comprises a first handle half-shell and a second handle half-shell movable relative to each other and connected with each other at one end by a biasing mechanism; a tube arranged substantially centrally between the handle half-shells; a linkage mechanism arranged between the handle half-shells and the tube in order to transmit an actuating movement of the handle half-shells; a locking mechanism with a latching rocker arranged on the first handle half-shell and a locking rocker arranged on the second handle half-shell, wherein the two rockers enter into locking connection with each other through an opening provided therefor in the tube when the handle half-shells are moved together, and wherein the rockers are mounted around a pivot axis such that a swiveling or pivoting movement of the rockers lies within a plane defined by the handle half-shells.

A torque limiting device includes a handle; a drive shaft attached to the handle; a torque limiting assembly coupled to the drive shaft; the torque limiting assembly further including a shaft element; a first transmission member housing the shaft element; a second transmission member, the second transmission member being fixed to the shaft element and interacting with the first transmission member.

Torque limiting device

An instrument for use in minimally-invasive procedures generally including a pair of coaxially arranged shafts, an end-effector at the distal ends of the shafts, and an actuator at the proximal ends of the shafts. The end-effector is in the form of a suture holder which includes a first, fixed arm at a distal end of a first, fixed outer shaft, and a second, movable arm at a distal end of a second, movable inner shaft. The fixed arm includes a u-shaped end, which defines an opening adapted to receive a portion of an elongate flexible suture material. A closure pin fixed at an end of the movable arm moves back and forth, opening and closing the opening in the u-shaped end of the fixed arm. The closure pin extends from the movable arm into a pin guide opening through one leg of the u-shaped end of the fixed arm.
