Apparatuses, systems, and methods for beam failure recovery based on a unified TCI framework. A UE may receive, from a base station, a configuration for a BFR procedure for a CCG. The CCG may include at least two CCs and the UE may periodically receive, from the base station, at least a first BFD RS and a first CBD RS in a first CC included in the CCG. The UE may detect, based on the first BFD RS, a beam failure in at least the first CC and send, to the base station, a BFRQ. The BFRQ may include a candidate beam selected based on at least the first CBD RS and may be sent via a PRACH or MAC CE. The UE may receive, from the base station, a BFR response and apply the candidate beam to the first CC and at least one additional CC of the CCG.

Method for beam failure recovery based on unified TCI framework

Some aspects relate to apparatuses and methods for selecting a receiving beam based on hybrid channel based beamforming and codebook based beamforming. A user equipment (UE) can determine, based on a first measurement related to signal to noise ratio (SNR) and predetermined threshold values, whether the UE is in a low SNR state. If the UE is in a low SRN state, the UE can derive an estimated channel covariance matrix Rfor channels at a set of antenna elements of the UE based on channel based bearmforming (CHBF). Afterwards, a set of test bears {0, . . . N−1} is selected based on the channel covariance matrix R, and a set of codebook measurement beams is further selected based on the set of test beams. A receiving beam is selected based on a set of measurements performed on the set of codebook measurement beams at the measurement opportunity for codebook based beamforming (CBBF).

Receiving beam selection using hybrid channel based beamforming and codebook based beamforming

A user equipment (UE) is configured to determine a probability metric for a likelihood of a beam failure event at the UE, implement a beam management power saving scheme based on the probability metric and process a portion of network scheduled beam recovery resources within a time window. A UE may also be configured to generate a radio link monitoring (RLM) block error rate (BLER) metric associated with a beam, determine that the RLM BLER metric is below a threshold value and disable beam failure detection (BFD) and candidate beam detection (CBD) procedures at the UE in response to determining that the RLM BLER metric is below the threshold value.

Power efficient beam recovery procedures

An electronic device having multiple antenna groups for data communication may determine a temperature of a first antenna group and determine a power gain of a second antenna group. The electronic device may communicate using the second antenna group in response to determining that the temperature of the first antenna group exceeds a temperature threshold and the power gain of the second antenna group exceeds a gain threshold. In some embodiments, the electronic device may receive communication link preferences, determine an antenna group that is disposed outside of thermal hotspots of the electronic device, and determine a beam that enables the communication link preferences via the antenna group. The electronic device may then transmit or receive data via the antenna group by forming the beam.

A method for detecting a transmission from an interfering radio cell includes: receiving a signal comprising transmissions from a serving radio cell and from a plurality of interfering radio cells, wherein a reference symbol of a transmission from at least one interfering radio cell of the plurality of interfering radio cells is colliding with a reference symbol of a transmission from the serving radio cell; generating a set of transmission signal hypotheses, each of which is dependent on at least one interferer parameter of the at least one interfering radio cell; obtaining at least one interferer radio cell identifier; and detecting a transmission from at least one interfering radio cell of the plurality of interfering radio cells in the received signal based on the at least one interferer radio cell identifier and the set of transmission signal hypotheses.

Method and device for detecting a transmission from an interfering radio cell

A technique of processing an Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) transmission is disclosed. As to a method aspect of the technique, the method comprises the steps of requesting a retransmission of a transport block; receiving the retransmission of the transport block; and detecting modulation symbols. The retransmission is requested in response to an error-detecting code indicating an error in the transport block as received in at least one previous transmission. The modulation symbols are detected based on at least a part of the received retransmission and information from the at least one previous transmission. At least in some embodiments, a detection rate is thus improved.

Provided is a method, apparatus and computer program product for detecting a transport format of a multiplexed transport channel used for transferring binary data. A path metric value is determined, which estimates likelihood for a hypothetical trellis path to end at a predetermined state, for every state of a trellis stage of a possible end bit position of a data block of the transport channel. Then, for each possible end bit position a number of path metric values which indicate higher likelihood for the hypothetical trellis path to end at said predetermined state than an initial state is calculated, and the best end bit positions which lead to highest values of the calculated number are selected and error checking is performed for the selected best end bit positions to detect the transport format. The proposed selection of best end bit positions leads to a reduced number of decoding operations.
