A vehicle having an internal combustion engine mounted in the vehicle such that a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine runs in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle is provided with a flexible drive is provided that comprises a wheel, in particular a pulley, which is arranged such as to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the vehicle and which is arranged in front of the internal combustion engine when viewed in the direction of travel of the vehicle. The wheel has at least one weakened section which allows or facilitates a compression of the wheel in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle upon a head-on collision. In addition, the wheel may be arranged to cooperate with a recess in the front of the engine to permit further displacement of the wheel toward the engine during a collision.

A motor vehicle body has a longitudinal beam and a bumper cross member, which is fixed to one end of the longitudinal beam. An end section of the bumper cross member protrudes over the longitudinal beam in the transverse direction. The end section of the bumper cross member is designed as a closed or open hollow profile element. A collision-resistant profile reinforcement is provided at least in some regions in the hollow profile element in the end section of the bumper cross member.

Motor vehicle body which is designed for a collision with small overlap

A rear region of an axle support is connected to at least one supporting body component in the front, lower region of the passenger compartment of the vehicle body by way of at least one support extending rearward. The support is connected to the supporting body component by a pyrotechnically releasable connecting element. A guide is arranged between the rear end region of the support and the supporting body component, which guide permits only an displacement of the guided end region of the support rearward as viewed in the direction of travel if the connection is released by the pyrotechnic connecting element between the support and the supporting body component.

A vehicle body has a longitudinal member and a bumper cross-member. Furthermore, the vehicle body has a cantilever, which extends transversely to the longitudinal member along a transverse vehicle axis and is fastened to the longitudinal member in a torque-resistant manner. The cantilever is arranged in such a way that the cantilever protrudes into an intermediate space between a wheel mount and the bumper cross-member.

A front wheel suspension on a two-track vehicle having a wheel carrier or pivot bearing guided by an articulated suspension link is provided with an add-on part arranged such that during an impact of the vehicle on an obstacle which penetrates into the space bridged by the suspension link between a wheel and an axle support or vehicle body, the add-on part forms a lever arm on an articulated connection of the suspension link to separate the link by opening or destroying the connection. Separation of the articulated connection allows the vehicle wheel to be displaced laterally away from the vehicle interior. The add-on part may be fastened by a fastening screw of the articulation connection or be an extension of the screw. The add-on part may have a bead or a punch ring which has a destructive effect on the articulated connection during impact-caused displacement of the add-on part.
