The apparatus for the continuous catalytic removal of binder from metallic and/or ceramic shaped bodies produced by powder injection molding, which comprises a binder removal furnace through which the shaped bodies pass in a transport direction and are brought to a suitable process temperature, a feed facility for introduction of a process gas which is required for binder removal and comprises a reactant, at least one facility for the introduction of a protective gas into a reaction space of the binder removal furnace and a flare to burn the gaseous reaction products obtained in binder removal, wherein one or more devices which lead to a flow of the process gas directed transversely to the transport direction in the apparatus are present.

A process for reducing the size of polyisobutene with a molecular weight of from 5,000,000 to 12,000,000 by grinding under pressures of from 1 to 50 bar and with average residence times of from 0.1 to 30 minutes entails the grinding being carried out at from 0.degree. to 60.degree. C.

A fuel for gasoline engines contains a small amount of a copolymer of an olefin of from 2 to 40 carbon atoms and/or a cycloolefin of from 3 to 10 carbon atoms with maleic anhydride and/or a copolymer of an alkyl vinyl ether of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms in the alkyl group and/or a cycloalkyl vinyl ether of from 3 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl group with maleic anhydride and/or a copolymer of an alkyl vinyl ether of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms in the alkyl group and/or a cycloalkyl vinyl ether of from 3 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl group and an olefin of from 2 to 40 carbon atoms and/or a cycloolefin of from 3 to 10 carbon atoms with maleic anhydride having a total molecular weight of from 500 to 20,000 g per mole, the carboxyl groups on the copolymer having been wholly or partly converted with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal to form an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt and the remaining carboxyl groups having been converted with an alcohol and/or an amine of up to 50 carbon atom into the corresponding ester and/or amide groups and/or ammonium salts.

The invention relates to a process for optimizing the properties of aqueous polymer solutions used for polymer flooding which comprises treating the polymer solutions under turbulent flow conditions in dynamic fluid dispersing or pumping equipment such that the residence time of the polymer solution in this equipment is less than approximately 20 seconds and the pump energy used is from about 1 to about 15 watts/liter of solution processed. This process permits the optimization of flow properties important in polymer flooding which results in the improved efficiency of the polymer flooding process.

Dilute aqueous solutions of high molecular weight polymers of acrylamide or methacrylamide or of homopolymers or copolymers of salts of ethylenically unsaturated C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 -carboxylic acids are stabilized to thermal degradation by adding (a) at least 20 ppm of an inorganic sulfur compound, in which the sulfur has an oxidation number of +2 to +5, and (b) at least 20 ppm of a complexing agent for metal ions.
