A shielded connector is for connecting a first board to a second board, such as printed circuit boards or the like. The shielded connector includes a first connector housing for being installed on the first board and includes first electrical contacts therein which are for being electrically connected to the first board. A second connector housing is for being installed on the second board and includes second electric contacts therein which are for being electrically connected to the second board. The first and second connector housings mate to cause the first and second electric contacts to mate. First shielding for the first electrical connector housing and the first electric contacts therein include a first shielding device at one side and a second shielding device at the other side of the first connector housing. The first and second shielding devices are respectively electrically connected to the first board. Second shielding for the second connector housing and the second electric contacts therein include a third shielding device at one side and a fourth shielding device at the other side of the second connector housing. The third and fourth shielding devices are respectively electrically connected to the second board. The first shielding device is in overlapping electrical contact with the third shielding device and the second shielding device is in overlapping electrical contact with the fourth shielding device when the first and second connector housings are mated for causing the first electric contacts to mate with the second electric contacts.

A method of making single-piece contact springs by continuous punching from a metal strip. Each contact spring has in the finished state two spring arms which extend symmetrically relative to each other and are connected to a common connecting member. The spring arms have each a contact bend which are directed toward and are in contact with each other. The other end of the spring has a connecting post preferably provided with a press-in portion. A gap for the later formation of the spring arms is made during one of the punching operations of the blank in the plane of the strip as a scrapless punching cut. Simultaneously with the scrapless punching operation, one of the spring arms is bent out of the plane of the strip near the connecting member and is placed by a stamping operation into a position approximately parallel to the other spring arm which remained in the plane of the strip. In a subsequent deforming operation, the contact bends are formed simultaneously in both spring arms and the spring arms are crossed over each other transversely of the plane of the strip in the region of the contact bends.

Method of making contact springs

To create an insertable elastic section for connecting contact pins into through-openings in a printed circuit board, an axially extending section of a post or pin is deformed to provide an axially extending U-shaped section. The pin is provided with a regular transverse section from which the U-shaped section is deformed. The original shape of the pin may be rectangular. The deformation is carried out in a pair of die parts. The axially extending U-shaped section is divided into a bight part or base with a pair of legs extending outwardly from the opposite sides of the base. The outside surfaces of the legs are shaped to provide linear contact with the surface of an opening through a printed circuit board with the contact being afforded at the opposite ends of the legs. Transition sections interconnect the legs to the base and are provided with a reduced wall thickness as compared to the legs for enhancing the elasticity of the legs. The elasticity of the U-shaped section accommodates the diameter differences in the openings through the printed circuit board.

A transfer plug system for electrical or electronic controls or devices having coding parts which correspond to one another mechanically and are attached at a cable housing as well as in the area of a counter-plug element, the coding parts being brought into engagement with one another and held by means of a shared locking element, the locking element thus operating to fulfill a dual function of coding for preventing faulty plugging and of fastening and locking the plug housing at plates or in a structural component part carrier.

A solderless electrical connector for producing a solderless connection between a multiple contact plug equipped with contact pins and a printed circuit board is provided with inserting segments at the free end of the contact pins which inserting segments are inserted by means of an additional insulating member into through-contacted bore holes of the printed circuit board. A tool having guide ducts formed to receive portions of the contact pins can also be used to press the contact pins into circuit board holes.

Solderless electrical connector assembly

The invention relates to a method and a contact strip for the production of gas-tight connections for printed backwall wirings. Heretofore, the difficulty in the production of such connections has been that the posts of the relatively small and delicate plug connectors had to be pressed into the through-contacted bores under high pressure. The invention solves this problem in that, in pressing in, use is made of a contact strip housing which, during the pressing operation, presses not on the plug connectors themselves, but on their mount, with which the individual plug connectors are firmly held together.
