A device and a method for closed-loop control of at least a first exhaust gas turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. In this regard, a first closed-loop control system is provided for automatically controlling the charge air pressure, and a second closed-loop control system is provided for automatically controlling the turbine speed. The second closed-loop control system is subordinate to the first closed-loop control system. The correcting variable (SG) of the first closed-loop control system corresponds to the reference input of the second closed-loop control system.

A method for closed-loop speed control of an internal combustion engine that is provided as a generator drive or a marine propulsion unit, including the steps of: computing a first control deviation (dR) from a speed variance comparison; computing a first set injection quantity (qV) from the first control deviation (dR) by a speed controller; determining a second set injection quantity (qV) from the first set injection quantity (qV) and another input variable (E) by a minimum value selector for the closed-loop speed control of the internal combustion engine, wherein in a first, steady operating state of the internal combustion engine, the input variable (E) corresponds to a first injection quantity (qV) (E=qV), which is computed via a first characteristic curve, and in a second, dynamic operating state of the internal combustion engine, the input variable (E) corresponds to a second injection quantity (qV) (E=qV), which is computed via a second characteristic curve; and changing from the first characteristic curve to the second characteristic curve when a changeover condition is satisfied.

Method for regulating the rotational speed of an internal combustion engine

An arrangement for controlling a supply of air and a volume of fuel to an auxiliary combustion chamber associated with a supercharged internal combustion engine. The auxiliary combustion chamber being adapted to periodically deliver additional exhaust gas to an exhaust gas turbine of the supercharger as a function of an instantaneous exhaust gas volume from the internal combustion engine. A sensor is disposed in a charging air line of the internal combustion engine for influencing a pressure detector which delivers an actual value signal corresponding to the instantaneous charging air pressure. The signal reaching a comparator by way of an input amplifier, in which comparator the signal is compared with a guide parameter delivered by a fixed value adjustment device and corresponding to the desired constant charging air pressure. The resultant differential between the desired constant charging air pressure and the actual value forms an input signal for a proportional regulator whose output signal is fed to two curve adjustment elements which are respectively connected in series with an air supply regulator and/or a force amplifier to control the fuel volume.

A control arrangement for an injection pump of an internal combustion engine wherein a correcting element, determining the required power of the internal combustion engine, and a centrifugal speed governor, for maintaining the limiting speeds of the internal combustion engine, are effective on a control rod of the injection pump to adjust the required feed rate of the pump. A correcting displacement of the control rod is optionally limited by the control arrangement in dependence upon various influential variables of the internal combustion engine. The control arrangement includes an electromagnet which cooperates, under slight pretensioning, with a free end face of the control rod. An electronic circuit provided for processing an output signal of an inductive displacement pickup for the control rod position and signals defining the operating condition of the internal combustion engine to control a variable effecting a metered activation of the electromagnet.
