A hot-rolling mill for producing sheet metal has a reversing roughing stand having pairs of roughing rolls and a reversing finishing stand adjacent thereto and having pairs of finishing rolls. Each stand is selectively operable alone and both stands are operable in tandem operation. The roughing rolls have diameters larger than the diameters of the finishing rolls and the finishing rolls operate at a higher rotary speed than the roughing rolls in the tandem operation.

Hot-rolling mill and process for producing sheet metal

A plant for hot-rolling strip or plate stock comprises roller conveyors for conveying the stock to be rolled, which is guided on the roller conveyors by side guards, which are provided on the roller conveyors near their side edges and adjustable transversely to the direction of travel on the roller conveyors. To ensure that on such roller conveyor provided with the side guards the cooling of the stock to be rolled will be minimized, the roller conveyors are provided with coverings, which are supported by the side guards and movable in unison with at least one of the side guards.

Heat shield for a rolling mill

In a hot-rolling plant, a single roughing stand directly precedes a forward reversing coiler and is closely spaced therefrom. A set of two reversing finishing stands is arranged in direct succession between the forward reversing coiler and a rear reversing coiler, the distance between the roughing stand and the finishing stands being just sufficient to accommodate the forward reversing coiler. The set of finishing stands and the roughing stand are selectively operable individually and jointly with each other.

Plant and process for hot-rolling strip or plate stock

A hot-rolling plant comprises forward and rear reversible coilers, a reversible finishing stand disposed between the coilers, and crop shears including upper and lower cutter cylinders. To permit trimming of the stock to be rolled between finishing passes, the crop shears are disposed between the finishing stand and the rear reversible coiler, and a backing roller for supporting the stock is rotatably mounted on the lower cutter cylinder on an axis which is parallel to the axis of rotation of the lower cutter cylinder.

Hot-rolling plant

A coiler-furnace comprises a heat-shielding hood and a coiler having a coiler mandrel for coiling a hot-rolled strip. The mandrel incorporates an electrically energizable heating winding comprising a plurality of inductor coils for heating the coiler strip.
