An electric heating device includes a casing that forms inlet and outlet openings for the fluid to be heated and a circulation chamber as well as a connection chamber separated from the circulation chamber by way of a partition wall. A heat-emitting surface of a PTC heating element is exposed in the circulation chamber and is coupled in a heat-conductive manner to a PTC element. The PTC element is in electrically conductive contact, which via electrical conductor tracks with different polarities that are electrically connected in the connection chamber. The casing is a plastic casing provided with a shielding.

Electric heating device

A heat generating element includes at least one PTC element, contact sheets flatly lying against the PTC element on either side, a housing which forms at least one opening for receiving the at least one PTC element and which has a terminal side at which contact tongues allocated to the contact sheets are exposed. The device also has a wedge element with a broader and a narrower end face which are connected to each other via first and second wedge surfaces, the first wedge surface extending in parallel to one of the contact sheets and lying against it with a slide plate being inserted, and the second wedge surface being exposed at the outer side of the housing. A heat generating element less susceptible to damages during assembly has a slide plate connected to the housing.

Heat generating element

An electric heating device includes a casing which forms inlet and outlet openings for a fluid to be heated and a circulation chamber communicating with the inlet and outlet openings, and into which at least one PTC heating element with at least one PTC element projects which is, for electrical contact, provided with contact strips which are exposed in a connection chamber which is separated from the circulation chamber by way a partition wall. The casing further forms a control chamber for accommodating a control device which, with regard to controlling, is coupled to the at least one PTC heating element. An integrally formed casing base member, made of a plastic material, forms the partition wall and walls which circumferentially surround the circulation chamber and the connection chamber.

A PTC heating element includes a heating element casing that fits, as a structural unit, at least one PTC element and contact plates that energize the PTC element and that form contact strips for an electrical plug connection in order to electrically connect electrodes that are electrically connected to the PTC element. The PTC element is covered with an insulation layer at least on one of its two main side surfaces. In order to provide such a heating element casing that is inexpensive to produce and of a light-weight configuration, the PTC heating element comprises an injection-molded plastic frame which encloses the insulation layer only at the edge and which defines oppositely disposed frame openings, behind which the PTC element with its main side surfaces is located.

An electric heating device a PTC heating element, a platelet-type PTC element which has two main side surfaces and face side surfaces extending perpendicular to the main side surfaces, and a casing. The casing forms inlet and outlet openings for the fluid to be heated and forms a circulation chamber in which a heat emitting surface of the PTC heating element is exposed and is coupled in a heat conductive manner to the PTC element. The PTC element is contacted in an electrically conductive manner by way of electrical conductor tracks to different polarities. A high degree of efficiency and a high output is obtained in that the conductor tracks are contacted in an electrically conductive manner to face side surfaces of the PTC element.

Electric heating device and PTC heating element of an electric heating device

A PTC heating element is provided that includes including a PTC heating element strip conductors via which the PTC element is powered and at least one of which is insulated on an outer surface with an electrical insulation layer. In order to provide improved insulation while maintaining adequate heat transfer from the PTC element to the heat-emitting surface through the electrical insulation layer, the electrical insulation layer comprises a film and an electrically insulating mass of good thermal conductivity applied to the film. Also provided is an electric heating device for an automotive vehicle that is provided with at least one PTC heating element of such a type.

A PTC heating element includes at least one PTC element provided between strip conductors. To reduce the air gap and creep distance between the two strip conductors an insulating mass seals at least one of the strip conductors and/or the PTC element over the whole circumference. In the electric heating device according to the invention, such a PTC heating element lies in an electrically conducting manner against heat-emitting surfaces of the heating device. According to the method of the invention for producing an electric heating device, the strip conductors are glued to the PTC element for producing a PTC heating cell. The PTC heating cell is then sealed between two electrical insulation layers by an insulating mass which is applied circumferentially around at least one of the strip conductors and/or the PTC element.

PTC heating element and electric heating device comprising such a PTC heating element and method for producing an electric heating device

An electric heating device has several PTC heating elements that are arranged in a circulation chamber. The electric heating device includes a heating element casing which fits as a structural unit at least one PTC element and contact plates that energize said PTC element and form contact strips for an electrical plug connection. A partition wall separates the circulation chamber from a connection chamber in which the contact strips of the PTC heating element penetrating the partition wall are exposed and are electrically connected. A plug connection is formed between the partition wall and the PTC heating element and via which the PTC heating element is held in a frictionally engaged and/or in positive fit manner on the partition wall in the direction of insertion.

A heat generating element for an electrical heating device of a motor vehicle, including at least one PTC element and two contact plates which are in contact with opposite sides of the PTC element and are provided on their outer side facing away from the PTC element with an insulating layer. Shielding is provided, comprising a first shell-like shielding plate and a second shell-like shielding plate which are each provided on the outer side of the insulating layer and are connected thereto in a thermally conductive manner. The longitudinal wall sections, directed towards one another, of the first and second shielding plate form an overlapping region. In order to reduce EMC problems, two shielding plates are sealed by way of an adhesive which is received in one of the two shielding plates and into which the end of a rim of the other shielding plate dips.

An electric heating device including a heater housing in which a partition separates a circulation chamber, through which a medium to be heated can flow, from a connection chamber in which electrical connections of a PTC heating element introduced into a recess of a heating rib projecting from the partition into the circulation chamber are exposed. The PTC heating element has at least one PTC element and strip conductors lying against it at both sides, of which at least one strip conductor is covered by an electrical insulation layer. To create an electric heating device which permits a delivery of heat of the PTC heating element to the environment in an improved way, the heating rib is formed by a heating rib frame which comprises at least one window in which the insulation layer is exposed.

Heat generating element with connection structure

A sealed housing of an electric heating device to be installed in a motor vehicle includes a housing lower part and a housing cover abutting on the housing lower part via an intermediate sealing element. An elongate positive locking element, which interconnects the housing lower part and the housing cover in a form fit manner, is provided between opposed contact surfaces of the housing lower part and a housing cover. The positive locking element abuts on the contact surfaces under a pretensioning force caused by compression of the sealing element. A method of producing a sealed housing also is disclosed via which the contact surfaces move into contact with the elongate positive locking element under a pretensioning force of the sealing element.

Sealed housing and method of producing the same

An electrical heating device for a motor vehicle includes a frame that has openings formed on oppositely situated sides for the passage of a medium to be heated, a layer structure, arranged in the frame, and a connecting housing. The layer structure comprises layers of corrugated-rib elements and heat generating elements, and each heat generating element has at least one PTC element arranged between parallel contact plates. At least one power dissipation generating power switch is provided in the connecting housing. A heat sink lies exposed on the outside of the connecting housing. Improved and adequate cooling of the electrical heating device having the power switch is created as a result of the insertion of the heat sink into the connecting housing in a sealing manner.

Electrical heating device, particularly for a motor vehicle

A heat generating element for an electrical heating device of a motor vehicle includes a positional frame which forms a receptacle in which a PTC element is accommodated, and two contact plates abutting on oppositely situated sides of the PTC element. A heat generating element has a sheet metal cover that is connected to the positional frame. Also provided are a frame, which has oppositely situated side openings for the passage of a medium to be heated, and a layer structure, which is arranged in the frame and which comprises layers of corrugated-rib and heat generating elements, such that the heat generating element has at least one PTC element arranged between two parallel contact plates. The electrical heating device is protected against EMC via sheet metal covers that are arranged on both sides of the heat generating element and between the corrugated-rib elements and the contact plates.

An electrical heating device for a motor vehicle includes a frame in which is accommodated a layer structure with corrugated-rib elements and heat generating elements. Each heat generating element includes a positional frame which forms a receptacle in which a PTC element is accommodated, and which includes contact plates abutting on two oppositely situated sides of the PTC element. The heat generating element is formed such that the receptacle is sealed and is accessible through at least one inspection channel that is accessible from the outside. The electrical heating device has a sleeve receptacle which is adapted for the sealing accommodation of a connection piece that protrudes from the heat generating element. Also disclosed is a method for the manufacture of an electrical heating device in which the sealing of the heat generating elements is checked.
