A safety switch arrangement for a power connector of a personal care appliance includes a housing with a power connector having a connector receptacle, an operating switch, and an actuator. The actuator is mounted to the housing and is moveable between first and second states. In the first state, the actuator enables operation of the personal care appliance and prevents contact with the connector receptacle, and in the second state, the actuator prevents operation of the personal care appliance and enables contact with the connector receptacle.

Safety switch arrangement for a personal care appliance

A tap sensitive alarm clock has a housing (), a vibration sensor () mechanically coupled to the housing for receiving a shock due to a user tapping the housing, and a control circuit () coupled to the vibration sensor for controlling a function of the alarm clock. An audio unit () is coupled to an audio circuit () for generating sound, e.g. a loudspeaker in an alarm clock or a wake up light. To avoid interference of the sound and the vibration sensor, the alarm clock is provided with a filter () coupled to the vibration sensor and the control circuit. The filter has a filter curve matched to block frequencies occurring in the sound. Advantageously it is avoided that the sound frequencies trigger the function, while the sensor is sensitive to other frequencies up to the frequency range of the sound for reliably detecting the tapping.

Tap sensitive alarm clock

A disposable cartridge () for use in a beverage maker comprises a container () for containing at least one beverage ingredient and a connector () for establishing a connection between the cartridge () and a beverage maker. The connector () comprises a hollow needle member () having a blunt end () for piercing a portion () of a wall () of the container (), wherein the needle member () extends inside a dome-shaped portion () of the container wall (). Furthermore, the connector () is movably arranged with respect to the container (). During operation, an impacting force is exerted on the needle member (), as a result of which the connector () is moved with respect to the container (), in a direction towards the container (), and the pierceable portion () of the container wall () is pierced by the end () of the needle member (). After the piercing process has taken place, the content of the container () is retrievable through the needle member ().
