A baffle assembly for flow disruption comprising a glass coated baffle. A hollow end of the baffle engages with a connector. An interior tubular portion of the connector is glass coated and forms an interference fit with the glass coated hollow end of the baffle.

Baffle assembly for a mixing vessel

A sealing gasket for sealing a flange face, especially a flange face that may be sensitive to uneven application of pressure or that cannot be provided with any sort of flange retaining means comprising a sharp angle in the flange surface. The gasket includes at least a metal ring, a reinforced fluoropolymer sheet, an O ring and a fluoropolymer protective shield. The metal ring is defined by inside and outside circumferences, by widely separated outwardly directed parallel surfaces that in turn define maximum thickness of the ring, by narrowly separated parallel surfaces defining opposing depressed portions in the ring and by opposing shoulders. Each of the widely separated parallel surfaces is covered by at least one reinforced fluoropolymer sheet having inside and outside surfaces positioned so that the inside surface of the sheet faces and covers at least one of the widely separated parallel surfaces and so that the outside surface faces outwardly. The gasket includes at least two O rings. The O rings have outside ring diameters about equal to a diameter of the shoulder, i.e. the distance from the shoulder to shoulder across the center of the metal ring. The O rings have thicknesses that are sufficient to extend beyond the outside surface of the reinforced fluoropolymer sheet. The narrowly separated parallel surfaces, the interior circumference, and the outside surface of the fluoropolymer sheets are covered by a fluoropolymer protective shield to further increase resistance to corrosive compounds.

Stabilized 'O' ring gasket seal

Apparatus and methods of closing and sealing chemical reactor vessels, which are relatively less susceptible to contaminant build-up and more easily maintained in such a state. The chemical reactor vessel comprises a vessel body and a separable head attached thereto wherein the means for attaching and sealing said head to said body comprises; a seal means, a flange means, a shield means and an attachment means. The seal means functions, in compression, to prevent leakage of fluids into and from said chemical reactor vessel. The flange means functions to impose compressive loads to the seal means to cause the seal means to prevent leakage of fluids into and from the chemical reactor vessel. The shield means are integral with at least one of the flange means, which function to substantially prevent contaminants from contacting the seal means and those portions of such flange means which are adjacent to the seal means and which function to inhibit the build-up of contaminants within and adjacent to the attaching and sealing means. The attachment means function to apply compressive loads to the flange means and concurrently function to removably fix the head to the body. The attachment means are subject to the functions of the shield means and which, concurrently, function to fix the shield means to the chemical reactor vessel such that the shield means cannot be separated from the chemical reactor vessel without first disassembling the attachment means and releasing the compressive loads from the flange means.

Closure for clean chemical reactor

A gasket for sealing two flange faces against each other comprising at least two compressible layers, a reinforcing metal ring sandwiched between the compressible layers, said compressible layers and metal ring having a combined thickness and an inner and an outer edge, a resilient O-ring located at the inner edge of the combined compressible layers and metal ring, said O-ring having an inner edge and having a diameter greater than said combined thickness, and a fluoropolymer sheet enveloping the O-ring and combined compressible layers and metal ring to form the gasket such that when the gasket is installed the fluoropolymer sheet contacts both flange faces and covers the inner edge of the O-ring. The gasket is particularly suitable for sealing the surfaces of glass coated flanges where the contents of materials within the flanges are under pressure.

O-ring envelope gasket

A vessel including an emptying means which comprises a valve housing means integral with and fixed to the vessel; a valve body means removably mounted to the valve housing means; a means for sealing the valve body means to the valve housing means; and a valve means which functions to commence and halt the flow of materials from the vessel through the valve housing means and through the valve body means. The valve body means functions to hold, align and contain the valve means. The means for sealing also functions to inhibit and prevent the accumulation and retention of contamination from materials flowing from the vessel through the valve housing means and the valve body means past and in direct contact with the means for sealing. The invention also ensures that the egress point from the vessel is maintained at about the same temperature as that of the interior of the vessel. Suitable valve means include poppet valve means, flush valve means, ram valve means and ball valve means.

Valve for clean chemical reactor

A quick opening manhole cover assembly is provided which is suitable for use with virtually any shape manhole cover of a pressure vessel. The assembly broadly includes a manhole cover having outer dimensions which are less than the inner dimensions of the manhole so that the cover can pass freely therethrough. The assembly also includes a structure for raising and lowering the cover into and out of the manhole. A sliding lock mechanism is located above the cover and is engageable to prevent axial movement of the cover. A safety mechanism is provided to prevent the lock from disengaging when the vessel is under pressure. Once the lock is engaged, the cover is raised and a seal carried atop the cover provides a fluid tight sealing engagement of the cover. The pressure within the vessel urges the cover further upward to further ensure the integrity of the seal.

The invention relates to an improved balancing aid for a pivotally mounted cover for a manhole comprising means for hinging the cover relative to the manhole so the cover may be rotated about the hinge to expose and cover the manhole; and a spring retaining means comprising a rod pivotally secured to the cover, said rod being at least partially encased by a housing, said housing containing a compression spring means which is compressed when the cover is closed; wherein the improvement comprises securing the spring retaining means by attachment means which may be removed only after the spring means is first removed.

What is disclosed is a multi-hubbed, separable blade agitator assembly wherein the exterior surfaces of the hubs of each agitator blade as well as the exterior surface of the drive shaft are coated with glass and the hubs are interference fitted to the drive shaft in glass-to-glass surface contact sufficient to withstand torque imparted to the agitator blades by the drive shaft.

Multi-hubbed separable blade agitators

A stationary seal seat for a package rotary mechanical seal is formed by compression sealing a ceramic ring within a glass coated metal ring. The ceramic provides the seat for a rotating seal member and the metal ring provides the surfaces which receive the loading forces when mounting the stationary seal seat. The glass coating on the metal functions to fuse the ceramic and metal rings together and provides a gas tight seal at the interface between the two rings. In addition, the ceramic ring has a peripheral groove defining a fluid passage for circulation of a coolant around the ceramic.
