A medical retrieval basket device, comprising a plurality of basket wires forming a basket, the basket including a wire collector at its distal end, the wire collector having a substantially rigid body for receiving the wires, the wire collector securing the wires at the distal end of the basket so as to provide a substantially tipless basket.

Retrieval basket for a surgical device and system and method for manufacturing same

A retrieval basket is provided for use with a surgical device adapted to capture calculi. The retrieval basket includes wires extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the basket wherein the wires converge at the proximal and distal ends. The wires in a proximal portion of the retrieval basket incline radially at an angle away from the basket's axis along relatively straight paths. The wires in a distal portion of the retrieval basket converge radially toward the axis along relatively curvilinear paths.

Retrieval basket for a surgical device

A disposable, limited-use torque limiting wrench is provided having a predetermined maximum number of torque-applying cycles of use for applying a fixed torque to an adaptably connected driven member. This torque limiting wrench includes a rotatable casing including a slotted hub portion and a curved bias spring dimensioned to fit around the slotted hub portion. A dowel pin is also included having a center portion which is dimensioned to fit within and be gripped by a slot formed in the slotted hub portion and to be rotated thereby in response to a torque imparted on the rotatable casing. A torque ring is cooperatively engaged with the above by a predetermined number of pairs of radially extending and substantially equiangularly spaced slots. The respective ends of the dowel pin are uniquely dimensioned to fit within respective ones of the slots which become positioned colinearly therewith as the dowel pin is caused to be circumferentially rotated about the torque ring. The dowel pin ends move from an initial one of the pairs of slots to an adjacent pair of slots during each torque-applying cycle. The curved bias spring operates to bias the dowel pin into engagement with the torque ring. One of the pairs of slots is uniquely dimensioned such when the dowel pin engages therein after a final torque-applying cycle, the dowel pin is disengaged from the slotted hub portion under the urging of the bias spring.

Disposable torque limiting wrench

The infusion stent system includes a stent member having a plurality of openings provided in the wall of the stent along the entire length of the stent. An imperforate open ended guide tube member used for installation and infusion of the stent accommodates a core member that stiffens the guide tube member. The core member is relatively moveable in the guide tube member to provide selective flexibility at a proximal end of the guide tube member. The stent is positioned in the renal cavity, the ureter and bladder by being pushed along the guide tube member by a push catheter. Fluid is infused through a proximal end of the guide tube member when the core member is removed. The proximal end of the guide tube member can be located at any selected position within the stent. Thus fluid can be infused to any selected location in the stent by positioning the proximal end of the guide tube member at a desired location in the stent. Openings in the stent that are bypassed by the guide tube member are not infused with fluid.
