A method for preparing substituted triazines includes reacting a phenylazoaniline with a cyanuric halide to produce a (phenylazo) phenylamino-1,3,5-triazine, which is then reduced to form an aminoanilino-1,3,5-triazine. The aminoanilino-1,3,5-triazine can be alkylated under reducing conditions to produce an N-alkyl-phenylenediamino-1,3,5-triazine such as 2,4,5-tris-[N-alkyl-p-phenylenediamino]-1,3,5-triazine, which is useful as an antiozonant in rubber and other polymer formulations.

Method for preparing substituted triazines

Processes of preparing para substituted phenylamines, such as, p-phenylenediamines, and particularly, p-aminodiphenylamine. One process involves contacting phenylhydroxylamine with a nucleophilic reagent, such as aniline, in specified proportions and within a specified temperature range, in the absence of oxygen, and in the presence of a homogeneous acid catalyst, such as hydrochloric acid. A second process involves contacting phenylhydroxylamine with a nucleophilic reagent, such as aniline, in the presence of a solid acid catalyst, such as acidic zeolite Y, under reaction conditions.

Substituted pyrimidines and substituted triazines as rubber-to-metal

This invention relates to the improvement of rubber-to-metal adhesion and adhesion retention in sulfur vulcanizable, metal reinforced rubber compositions via the use of certain phenylenediamino substituted chloropyrimidine and chlorotriazine adhesion promoters.

Disclosed are tris-substituted 1,3,5-triazine compounds having at least one (N-alkyl-p-phenylendediamino) group on the triazine ring. The preferred compositions are tri-substituted with the alkyl p-phenylenediamino group. The preferred compounds may be prepared by reacting N-alkylphenylenediamine with a cyanuric halide.

Substituted triazines

Disclosed are novel 2,4,6 substituted pyrimidines where the substituents may be the same or different groups. At least one substituent must be N-alkyl paraphenylenediamino, and the other substituents may be various radicals containing sulfur, oxygen or nitrogen or hydrogen or alkyl groups. The compounds are useful as antioxidants and antiozonants for unsaturated compounds and polymers.

Arylenediamine substituted pyrimidines compositions

Disclosed are novel tris(N-alkyl-p-phenylenediamino)-1,3,5-triazine compounds useful as antiozonants for unsaturated high polymers. The compounds may be prepared by reacting N-alkylphenylenediamine with a cyanuric halide.
