A device for preventing a roller mounted retractable awning from deploying comprising a mounting bracket adapted to secure the device to the support arm of an awning, a locking band configured to encircle the awning roller, an extension member provided between and interconnecting the mounting bracket and the locking band so that said locking band is aligned transverse to the longitudinal axis of the mounting bracket and an actuator operatively associated with the locking band for engaging a roller of a retractable awning to prevent rotation and deployment of the awning.

Lock mechanism for retractable awning

A container handling apparatus for refuse containers of various sizes includes a frame mounted on an elevating and dumping mechanism disposed on a refuse collection vehicle. The apparatus includes opposed primary container engaging arms pivotally secured to the frame and secondary container engaging arms pivotally secured to the frame inboard of the pivot points of the primary arms. Hydraulic cylinder actuators are operable to move the primary arms from a retracted position substantially within the normal clearance width profile of the vehicle to a position for engaging and gathering the container to be grasped between the primary and secondary arms. The configuration of the primary and secondary arms provides for grasping containers of various diameters and for tolerating misalignment of the apparatus with respect to a container during driveby pickup operations. Alternate embodiments of the apparatus include opposed primary arms and a transversely extendable and retractable container engaging member to provide three point contact with the container. A second alternate embodiment includes two opposed primary arms which overlap each other to grasp containers of various sizes between the arms and the frame.

Apparatus for handling refuse containers and the like

A vehicle having a body for receiving trash or other material from a container is fitted with a loading arrangement which lifts the container from the ground, raises the container and tips it to dump the contents into the vehicle body. The loading arrangement includes an upright mast assembly attached to the vehicle, a container engaging device mounted on the mast assembly for guided movement therealong and a drive mechanism for raising and lowering the engaging device, the drive mechanism including an articulated linkage having a lower end pivotally connected to the engaging device for movement about a horizontal axis. The upper end of the linkage is mounted for swinging movement about a second horizontal axis. A power device is connected to the upper end portion of the linkage to swing the latter in a vertical plane transverse to the vehicle axis. Upward swinging movement raises the container engaging device along the mast assembly to the upper end of its path of travel and then tips the container in a tipping mode.

Loader for a vehicle body

An interchangeable container emptying device on the side of a trash-hauling vehicle to a position adjacent support abutment means on a trash container to move open-throat portions of U-shaped members upwardly into engagement with support abutment means, elevates container, automatically blocks open-throat portions of the U-shaped members to prevent disengagement of support abutment means when container reached an arcuate turn at the top, inverts container to a dumping position, dumps container, moves container to an upright position, lowers container, and then moves container outwardly to its original position.

Trash handling device

An interchangeable side loader unit on a vehicle moves outwardly from the vehicle to a position adjacent support abutment means on a trash and/or refuse container to move open-throat portions of U-shaped members upwardly into engagement with support abutment means, elevates container, automatically blocks open-throat portions of the U-shaped members to prevent disengagement of support abutment means when container reaches the arcuate turn at the top, inverts container to a dumping position, dumps container, moves container to an upright position, lowers container, moves container outwardly to the original position thereof.
