An extraction reaction process is provided for reacting feedstocks comprising alkylene carbonate and alkanol to form reaction products comprising alkyl carbonate. The process comprises reacting the feedstocks comprising alkylene carbonate and alkanol in a reaction zone at reaction conditions for producing the reaction products comprising alkyl carbonate. The feedstocks comprising alkylene carbonate and alkanol and the reaction products comprising alkyl carbonate are, substantially concurrently with the reacting step and within the reaction zone, contacted with a selective solvent selective for extracting alkyl carbonate from the reaction zone. The selective solvent comprises a distribution coefficient with respect to the alkyl carbonate that is substantially different than the distribution coefficient of the selective solvent with respect to the alkanol.

Reaction extraction of alkyl carbonate

A process is provided for separating alkyl carbonate from a feedstock comprising at least one alkyl carbonate and at least one alkanol comprising extracting the alkyl carbonate from the feedstock in a liquid-liquid extraction step comprising a first extraction solvent comprising hydrocarbon selective for extracting alkyl carbonates relative to alkanol in an amount sufficient to extract a substantial portion of the alkyl carbonate from the feedstock and a second solvent comprising water in an amount sufficient to extract a substantial portion of the alkanol from the feedstock.

Alkyl carbonate extraction process

A process is provided for separating alkyl carbonate from a feedstock comprising at least one alkyl carbonate and at least 0.01 percent by weight water comprising extracting the alkyl carbonate from the feedstock in a liquid-liquid extraction step comprising an extraction solvent selective for extracting alkyl carbonates relative to water in an amount sufficient to extract a substantial amount of the alkyl carbonates from the feedstock. The extraction solvent substantially comprises hydrocarbon boiling at a temperature ranging from about 50.degree. F. to about 700.degree. F. at atmospheric pressure and having a specific gravity ranging from about 0.50 to about 1.00.

Alkyl carbonate recovery process

A process for texturizing whole cell single-cell protein material which comprises mixing the proteinaceous material with a solvent-coagulable protein, adding a coagulating solvent to the mixture, whipping the mixture to incorporate microporous structure, and thermally fixing the texture by heat treating.

Process for texturizing proteins by coagulation with solvents

A process for texturizing an aqueous slurry of proteinaceous materials comprises forming an aqueous slurry of the proteinaceous material with a texturizing agent, freezing the aqueous slurry, dehydrating the frozen slurry, and heat treating the dehydrated slurry at a temperature between about 80.degree. to about 300.degree. C. to set the structure. The resultant sponge-like texturized product absorbs water but will not disperse in water.

Process for texturizing proteinaceous materials

Single-cell protein is combined with plant protein and/or animal protein and texturized to produce analogs which can be used as extenders or replacers for meat, poultry and fish in food products.
