Provided, in one aspect, is a lateral locating assembly. The lateral locating assembly may include, in one aspect, a housing, as well as a piston positioned within the housing. The lateral locating assembly according to this aspect may further include a mandrel extending from a distal end of the housing, the mandrel configured to rotate and translate angularly in response to the piston moving from a first position to a second position, and a deflection tip coupled with a distal end of the mandrel, the deflection tip configured to rotate and angularly translate with the mandrel relative to the housing.

Provided, in one aspect, is a drillable window assembly. The drillable window assembly, in this aspect, includes a first precut casing joint, the first precut casing joint including a first casing tubular having two or more radially offset slots along an interior surface thereof, and a second precut casing joint coupled to the first precut casing joint, the second precut casing joint including a second casing tubular having a sidewall opening formed therein. The drillable window assembly, as contained within this aspect, further includes an outer sleeve surrounding the sidewall opening in the second casing tubular.

Methods and apparatus for installing a deflector in a primary wellbore and confirming lateral wellbore access. The hydraulic retrieving tool is coupled to the interior of the deflector and introduced into the primary wellbore. The hydraulic retrieving tool comprises a bullnose, a plurality of retractable deflective pads, and a retractable dog. The deflector comprises a deflection surface. The hydraulic retrieving tool is decoupled from the interior of the deflector at a depth in the primary wellbore by retracting the dog and the plurality of deflective pads. The hydraulic retrieving tool is removed from the interior of the deflector. The dog and the plurality of deflective pads on the hydraulic retrieving tool are expanded when the hydraulic retrieving tool is removed from the interior of the deflector. The hydraulic retrieving tool drifts at least a portion of the deflection surface to determine if there is lateral wellbore access.

An actuation device for well operations can include a tubular body including a plurality of key slots, a threaded shaft disposed within the tubular body that rotates relative to the tubular body and is fixed axially relative to the tubular body, an actuator disposed within the tubular member that moves axially relative to the tubular body, wherein the actuator includes a ramp portion and a threaded neck portion that engages with the threaded shaft such that when the threaded shaft rotates, the actuator moves axially relative to the tubular body, and a plurality of keys, each disposed in one of the plurality of key slots and in operative communication with the ramp portion such that as the actuator moves axially relative to the tubular body, each key is urged radially outwardly from the tubular body.

The disclosed embodiments include downhole tools, multi-lateral intervention systems and methods to deploy a tubular into a lateral borehole of a multi-lateral well. A downhole tool includes a mandrel having an angulated interior profile along a first side of the mandrel. The downhole tool also includes a nose coupled to a second side of the mandrel. The downhole tool further includes a link having an angulated exterior profile along a first side of the link that is rotatably coupled to the first side of the mandrel. The link is rotatable from a first position to a second position, and wherein the nose tilts at an angle relative to the link while the link is at the second position.

Downhole tools, multi-lateral intervention systems and methods to deploy a tubular into a lateral borehole of a multi-lateral well

A deflection mechanism may include a first incline and a second incline for interacting with legs of a junction assembly to selectively deflect each of the legs in a desired direction in a multilateral wellbore system. The deflection mechanism may include a window assembly for a main borehole of the wellbore and having a selective-deflection profile positioned proximate to an entrance into a lateral borehole extending from the main borehole. One leg of the junction assembly may include a surface profiled corresponding to an angle of the first incline to deflect the leg toward the lateral borehole. Another leg of the junction assembly may include a surface profiled corresponding to an angle of the second incline to deflect the leg toward a whipstock assembly positioned internal to the window assembly.

Wellbore interactive-deflection mechanism

A well system including a parent wellbore, a lateral wellbore extending from the parent wellbore, and a reentry window assembly installed within the parent wellbore and including a completion window assembly having a window and providing an upper coupling, a muleshoe, and upper and lower slots provided on opposing axial ends of the window. An isolation sleeve is positioned within the completion window assembly and includes a sleeve alignment key, a sleeve coupling, and an engagement device. A whipstock is matable with the sleeve coupling and an aligning tool is operatively coupled to the whipstock and engageable with the muleshoe to angularly orient a whipstock face to the window. The isolation sleeve is movable between closed and open positions to isolate the lateral wellbore, and the sleeve alignment key interacts with the upper and lower slots to angularly orient the isolation sleeve while moving between the first and second positions.

Multilateral intelligent completion with stackable isolation

A method includes conveying a junction isolation tool, a junction support tool, a lateral completion assembly, and a completion deflector into a parent wellbore lined with casing. The completion deflector is coupled to the casing and the lateral completion assembly is detached and advanced into a lateral wellbore. After fracturing the lateral wellbore, the junction isolation tool is detached from the junction support tool, retracted back into the parent wellbore, and coupled to the completion deflector by advancing a stinger into an inner bore of the completion deflector. After hydraulically fracturing a lower wellbore portion of the parent wellbore, the junction isolation tool removes the completion deflector from the parent wellbore.

Modified junction isolation tool for multilateral well stimulation

A downhole tool that includes a tubular member having a first interior passageway, wherein the first interior passageway defines a first surface having a first internal diameter and a second recessed surface having a second internal diameter that is greater than the first internal diameter. The downhole tool also includes a protective sleeve engaged with the second recessed surface, wherein the protective sleeve has a second interior passageway that defines a third surface having a third internal diameter that is substantially equal to the first internal diameter such that the third surface is substantially flush with the first surface. In one embodiment, the protective sleeve is dissolvable upon contact of a fluid having predetermined composition or predetermined temperature such that the sleeve dissolves to expose the recesses formed in the latch assembly.
