An articulated fixation device is provided having a high degree of adjustability for securing a plate member thereof to a skull and at least one spinal rod thereof to a vertebral bone. In one form, an adjustable bridge member is provided that is adjustably connected to both the plate member and the spinal rod. The adjustable connections can include an upper and rearward pivot connection between the plate member and the bridge member and a lower and forward pivot connection between the spinal rod and the bridge member.

Adjustable fixation device

A device for locking a bone fastening or fixation mechanism in a receiving member of a medical implant (corpectomy cage or cervical cage). The locking mechanism is kept in place (both in its locked and unlocked positions) using a retaining mechanism. The retaining mechanism also provides predetermined locked and unlocked positions that are readily moved to by the practitioner and maintained in position once placed there.

An expandable fusion device capable of being inserted between adjacent vertebrae and expanded laterally to facilitate the fusion process and the use of such device. The expandable fusion device can expand laterally such that it expands the cross-sectional support area of the device to provide more stable support of the support the spine and maintain the normal spacing between opposing vertebrae. The interior area of the expandable fusion device (in which the bone graft can be packed) does not decrease (and generally increases) during expansion of the device. This facilitates pre-packing of the expandable fusion device before utilization.
