In one aspect, an arteriovenous access valve system may generally include a first valve configured to be positioned at or adjacent to an end of an arteriovenous graft and a second valve configured to be positioned at or adjacent to an opposite end of the arteriovenous graft. In addition, the system may include an actuator assembly in fluid communication with the first and second valves. The actuator assembly may include a housing, a driver assembly positioned within the housing and a drive magnet positioned within the housing. The drive magnet may be rotatably coupled to the driver assembly such that, when the drive magnet is rotated, the driver assembly is configured to be rotatably driven so as to supply fluid to the first and second valves or to draw fluid out of the first and second valves depending on a rotational direction of the driver assembly.

Magnetically activated arteriovenous access valve system and related methods

In one aspect, an arteriovenous access valve system may generally include a first valve configured to be positioned at or adjacent to an end of arteriovenous graft and a second valve configured to be positioned at or adjacent to an opposite end of the arteriovenous graft. In addition, the system may include an actuator assembly in fluid communication with the first and second valves. The actuator assembly may include a housing, a driver assembly positioned within the housing and a drive magnet positioned within the housing. The drive magnet may be rotatably coupled to the driver assembly such that, when the drive magnet is rotated, the driver assembly is configured to be rotatably driven so as to supply fluid to the first and second valves or to draw fluid out of the first and second valves depending on a rotational direction of the driver assembly.

In general, the present disclosure is directed to a tubing attachment tool. The tubing attachment tool includes first and second frames pivotally joined to one another such that the first and second frames can pivot to an open position and a closed position. Each of the first and second frames have a first handle end and a second end distal to the first handle end with each second end including a tubing grasping element. Each tubing grasping element includes a first curved surface and a second curved surface. When the first and second frames are in a closed position the first curved surfaces of the tubing grasping elements are aligned adjacent to one another and the second curved surfaces of the tubing grasping elements are aligned adjacent to one another such that the first curved surfaces define a first opening capable of housing an open end of tubing for attachment and the second curved surfaces define a second opening capable of grasping a portion of tubing inserted therebetween. The first opening is larger than the second opening.

Tubing attachment tool and methods of using same

A surgical fastener having a first and a second end for securing at least two surfaces together. The surgical fastener has a first configuration where the fastener is coupled to a restraining device that holds the fastener and a second configuration wherein the fastener is released from said restraining device. The second configuration has a substantially spiral shape and is spring biased along an axis perpendicular to the surfaces that it is securing. The surgical fastener also includes a rib that extends along the longitudinal axis of the fastener.

An embodiment of the present invention relates to methods for performing a surgical procedure. In particular, an embodiment of the present invention is directed to methods for performing a surgical procedure, using a delivery catheter containing a laser fiber assembly. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a method of performing a surgical procedure comprises the steps of: advancing a delivery catheter to a procedure specific area; activating a laser fiber assembly disposed within the delivery catheter; and advancing the laser fiber assembly to create a treatment specific hole at the procedure specific area.

Apparatus and method for performing a surgical procedure

The present invention is directed to a stent assembly for use in temporarily securing a surgical component during a surgical procedure. The stent assembly includes a catheter assembly having at least one primary passageway extending there through. The stent assembly further includes a securing assembly for exerting a force against the surgical component for temporarily securing the surgical component during the surgical procedure. The securing assembly includes a portion that extends through the at least one primary passageway. The catheter assembly may include a secondary passageway. The secondary passageway is adapted to receive a guide device therein. The securing assembly has a retracted position and an extended position. The securing assembly exerts a force against the surgical component while the securing means is in the extended position. The securing assembly may contain a coating which increases the gripping force of the securing assembly.

Temporary stent assembly for use in a surgical procedure

The present invention is directed to a delivery catheter assembly for advancing a surgical device to a desired location within a vessel during a surgical procedure. The delivery catheter assembly includes an inner sheath assembly through which the surgical device is advanced to the desired location within the vessel. The delivery catheter assembly further includes an outer sheath assembly surrounding the inner sheath assembly. In accordance with the present invention, at least one of the inner sheath assembly and the outer sheath assembly has an angular configuration at a predetermined time during the surgical procedure. The present invention further includes an adjusting assembly for creating the angular configuration of at least one of the inner sheath assembly and the outer sheath assembly. The adjusting assembly may include at least one pull wire positioned within one of the inner sheath and the outer sheath. Furthermore, the inner sheath assembly is movable with respect to the outer sheath assembly. The inner sheath assembly is capable of moving between an extended position and a retracted position at the predetermined time during the surgical procedure.

Delivery catheter assembly and method of securing a surgical component to a vessel during a surgical procedure

A system for generating a high pressure fluid jet includes a variable pressure pump and a burst resistant delivery tube which safely conducts the pressurized stream to an instrument. The pump includes a disposable diaphragm pump cartridge which is driven by a reusable pump. The delivery tube may be a coiled hypo tube which enhances flexibility.

A endoscopic multiple sample biopsy forceps is disclosed having a jaw assembly with a pair of jaws connected to a pair of arms extending from a jaw housing. Each jaw has two shanks oppositely displaced from the longitudinal axis of the device to define a space in the rear of the jaw for storing collected tissue samples. The tissue storage space defined by the jaw shanks opens rearwardly into a tissue storage area defined within the housing. Each shank has a broad outwardly facing planar surface aligned with an inwardly facing planar surface on one of the pair of arms. A cam slot on each jaw shank is slidably engaged by a cam pin on one of the pair of arms. A puller member coaxially positioned in the housing and axially movable relative to the housing supports a pair of pivots, each of which pivotally engages a bore on at least one jaw shank. The puller member is attached to a drive wire coaxially positioned in a tubular shaft. Axial movement of the drive wire actuates the puller member. In response to axial movement of the puller along the longitudinal axis of the outer tube, the cam pins riding in the cam guide slots change the position relative to the fixed jaw pivot axis of the jaw, thus actuating the jaws. None of the jaw assembly elements movable relative to the device, except the jaws, are externally exposed such that they could contact targeted tissue and negatively affect tissue sampling operations. An ejector is provided to push collected samples from the tissue sample storage area.

Endoscopic multiple sample biopsy forceps

An instrument for delivering a variable pressure stream of fluid as a coherent jet. The instrument may be configured for holding in the hand of a user or for manipulation by machine control. The orifices may be oriented axially, transversely or obliquely. A deflector may be provided opposite the orifice to transform the jet stream into a harmless spray. The deflector may be slidable (in the axial mode) or pivotable (in the transverse mode) to ensure a small instrument profile. The instrument may be moldable allowing the user to reshape the jet tip into a desired configuration. The instrument may be remotely steerable and enable a user to selectively alter the direction of the jet without having to remove the instrument from the surgical site.

Instrument for creating a fluid jet

A surgical instrument assembly has an endoscope with an instrument channel and a sheathed elongate tubular member inserted into the instrument channel. The sheath is provided with a distal end portion having at least one resiliently biased, curved portion tending to direct the tip of the distal end portion in a direction angularly offset from the axis of the body insertion tube at its distal end. The elongate tubular member is itself longitudinally slidably positioned within the sheath. The instrument channel exerts forces sufficient to straighten the curved portions of the sheath when the curved portions are positioned within the body insertion tube, proximal of the tube's distal end. An elongate flexible endoscopic instrument is mounted into the tubular member so that an operative tip is located at a distal end of the tubular member.
