A microcell having a plurality of antennas attached to an upper portion thereof is arranged to move along an interior of a guyed latticework tower. As the microcell is being raised, the antennas are in a stowed position within the confines of the tower structure. When the microcell reaches the top of the tower, the antennas are deployed by deploying mechanisms which utilize the vertical upward motion of the microcell to produce outwardly directed movement of the antennas to a deployed position. In the deployed position, the spacing between the antennas is greater than the distance between adjacent stanchions of the tower structure. The deploying motion is accomplished without additional driving motors, but is instead produced by the upward movement of the microcell driven by a winch and cable arrangement.

A safety device for a platform cable hoist within a latticework tower including a plurality of skid members which are flexed inwardly when there is tension from a lift cable. Brake members are secured to the skid members and, in the event the cable fails, the skid members deflect outwardly so that the brake members, which have hook portions at their upper ends, engage transverse braces of the tower. Between the hook portions and the skid members, the brake members are formed with an energy absorbing portion which absorbs kinetic energy from the falling platform to slow and stop its descent.

A hoist mechanism for raising and lowering a platform within the interior of a tower and confined within the tower interior. In a first illustrative embodiment, a motor driven worm gear drives rubber coated wheels that are spring loaded to apply pressure to vertical tower members.

A mounting arrangement for communications network base stations within a tower interior wherein each base station is secured between upper and lower platform plates by a pair of co-axial swivel mounts. The swivel mounts allow the base stations to be rotated about a vertical axis between a first angular position suitable for the base station to operate and to allow the platform to be raised and lowered and a second position in which the base station door can be fully opened to provide access to the base station interior for maintenance purposes.

A surgical clip intended to be used with conventional instruments for applying surgical clips, such as those marketed by the United States Surgical Corporation (U.S. Surgical), is disclosed in which the clip fits within and is operated by the movable jaws in the U.S. Surgical Applier but the clip is constructed so as to provide a circumferential closing of the clip around the duct or vessel. The conventional movement of the jaws of the applier operates with the initially open surgical clip, which under pressure by the parallel movement of the jaws, closes about the duct or vessel being occluded and firmly holds the duct in place by capturing the duct between upper and lower arms of the clip.

The telephone mounting apparatus comprises a rectangular frame base unit having a protrusion at one end and two slots at a second end for accepting either of two brackets. A telephone desk stand is constructed by inserting a first bracket into the slots in the base unit. The desk stand utilizes a first load bearing surface of the protrusion. A telephone wall mounting is constructed by inserting a second bracket into the slots in the base unit. The wall mounting utilizes a second load bearing surface of the protrusion.

A dual position mount is disclosed for mobile radio telephone sets. The base (11) of the mount is hollow and has an access port (28). The interior position (29) of the base serves as a secure receptacle for the mobile radio control unit when it is not being used. A lock (31) prevents removal of the control unit. For operation, the control unit is mounted on a connector plate (19) which is supported by means of an adjustable mechanical coupling (16 and 17) while a conductor (41) is fed through the center of the coupling to complete the circuitry between the control unit and the remaining portions of the mobile radio.
