Disclosed are various approaches for determining a version of an application for a user to access based at least in part an overall posture of the user and the device launching the application. An application can support multiple delivery mechanisms to allow a user different ways to access the service provided by the application. A posture level (e.g., level of risk, level of compliance) associated with the overall posture of a device and user accessing an application is determined. The posture level can be used to select which version of the application should be launched by the device in order to provide the best experience for the user while ensuring that security is considered.

Contextual application delivery

This disclosure describes a virtual desktop brokering system that brokers a virtual desktop session. During operation, a broker receives a request to establish the session. Next, the broker broadcasts, to a set of agent concentrators, a request to find an available machine for the session, wherein each agent concentrator maintains state information of a respective group of available machines. The broker receives, from at least one agent concentrator, a list of available machines. Subsequently, the broker chooses an available machine from the list for the session, and the broker sends a request to the agent concentrator associated with the chosen machine to initiate the session.

Method and system for sharded resource brokering

Methods, systems, and techniques for federating operations, in an optimized way using wide area networks are provided. Example systems provide an API for generating and handling federated requests as an aggregation. In one example Wide Area Network Aggregation System, WANAS provides an API, a connection manager, and connection iterators to manage inter-site connections and requests, and inter-pod requests and messaging. These components cooperate to distribute a task across multiple physically disparate sites using a representative connection to the site and fan out of requests to other pods within the site.

Wide area aggregated communications

The disclosure herein describes a system, which provides network configuration to a respective network adapter of a large number of cloned virtual machines. During operation, the system stores one or more network identifiers assignable to a network adapter of a cloned virtual machine in a pool of virtual machines cloned from a parent virtual machine. A respective network identifier corresponds to a respective network configuration. The system then determines whether a network identifier for a network adapter of a cloned virtual machine is available. If so, the system assigns the network identifier to the network adapter in response to the network identifier being available, thereby associating the network adapter with the corresponding network configuration.

Method and system for automatic assignment and preservation of network configuration for a virtual machine

Methods, systems, and techniques that enable enhanced coordination and management of a plurality of servers cooperatively operating in a cluster of servers. In one implementation, a plurality of enhanced Virtual Desktop Management (VDM) Servers operating in a Federated Virtual Desktop Management (VDM) Cluster are provided. Each of the enhanced VDM Servers active in the Federated VDM Cluster use federated task information pertaining to and derived from various executing federated tasks. However, only a single selected one of the plurality of enhanced VDM Servers is executing a particular one of the federated tasks at a time so that each federated task is continuously running somewhere in the Federated VDM Cluster.

Federated management in a distributed environment

A method for managing storage for a desktop pool is described. The desktop pool includes a plurality of virtual machines (VMs), each VM having at least one virtual disk represented as a virtual disk image file on one of a plurality of datastores associated with the desktop pool. To identify a target datastore for a VM, a weight of each datastore is calculated. The weight may be a function of a virtual capacity of the datastore and the sum of maximum sizes of all the virtual disk image files on the datastore. The virtual capacity is a product of the data storage capacity of the datastore and an overcommit factor assigned to the datastore. The target datastore is selected as the datastore having the highest weight. The VM may is moved to or created on the target datastore.
