Cylinder head gasket with a gasket plate comprising a plurality of sheet metal layers and at least one combustion chamber opening, an inner layer being arranged in the gasket plate directly between two functional layers having sealing beads arranged one over the other, which enclose the combustion chamber opening and have bead feet lying in the planes of the functional layers and bead crests with which sealing beads of the two functional layers all project over the functional layers in a first direction extending perpendicularly to the gasket plane, at least one ring zone of the inner layer being clamped between the bead feet of the one functional layer and at least one bead crest of the other functional layer when the gasket is pressed; to minimize arching of this ring zone, it is stiffened and/or those ring zone regions against which at least one bead crest of one functional layer lies when the gasket is pressed are supported by bead feet of the other functional layer.

Cylinder head gasket

In order to provide a cylinder head gasket, comprising at least one beaded gasket sheet, which comprises at least one combustion chamber opening and a bead, which may be vertically deformed and surrounds the combustion chamber opening, and at least one deformation limiting means adjacent to the bead, which can be produced simply and with low material usage and which is flexible with respect to the arrangement and configuration of the deformation limiting means, it is proposed that the deformation limiting means comprises at least one deformation limiting element disposed on a deformation limiting sheet of the cylinder head gasket, said element having at least one reinforcement region, which is located at a distance from the combustion chamber opening and is formed by separating a region of the deformation limiting sheet along a separating line and subsequently bending this region out of the plane of the deformation limiting sheet.

The invention relates to a metallic cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine, having a cover plate which faces the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine in the installed state and is provided with one or more openings arranged next to one another, corresponding to the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine. The cover plate has a bead around each opening with a space between the bead and the opening. This leaves a straight sheet metal portion in the edge region of the opening. Arranged adjacent to the bead around each opening radially inwards from the respective bead facing away from the cylinder head is a stopper for the bead, which at the same time forms an upward combustion chamber extension of the seal. In this case, the stopper decreases in its thickness radially outwards in such a way that the surface pressure in the region of the stopper is essentially homogeneous over the width of the stopper under operating conditions.

Cylinder head gasket comprising a gasket plate which has at least one metal layer with elastic properties and in which a through opening is formed which is surrounded by a bead-like embossment formed in this metal layer, wherein the bead-like embossment forms an approximately linear, self-contained sealing zone with increased sealing surface pressure when the gasket is fitted and the metal layer is provided with a first coating consisting of a plastic material which has elastic properties on its side forming this sealing zone at least in the area of this sealing zone as well as to both sides of the latter; to improve the sealing capacity of the cylinder head gasket around the said through opening, the metal layer is coated on its side provided with the first coating with a sealing bead closed upon itself, likewise surrounding the through opening and consisting of a plastic material, this bead being arranged on the side of the sealing zone facing away from the through opening as well as at a radial distance from the sealing zone in relation to the through opening, wherein the ridge of the sealing bead is at a greater distance from the metal layer supporting it than the upper side of the first coating.
