A method for identifying an error state in a brushless direct current motor. For the purposes of this identification, an angle deviation between a shaft angle and a control angle is calculated and used to identify error states on the basis of characteristic patterns. This also works, in particular, for slowly-rotating or stationary brushless direct current motors and allows a clear reduction in the calculation capacities required, compared to the prior art.

Method for identifying an error state in a brushless direct current motor

An electronically commutated electric motor includes a stator and a rotor formed as a permanent magnet. A control unit is connected to the stator and configured to energize the stator to produce a rotating magnetic field. The electric motor further includes at least one Hall sensor configured to detect at least a magnitude of a sensor magnetic field produced by a sensor magnet connected to the rotor. The electric motor also includes at least one magneto resistive sensor configured to detect an alignment of a total magnetic field during a rotor revolution of the rotor and to generate a rotor position signal representing this alignment. The total magnetic field includes the sensor magnetic field and an interference magnetic field superimposed thereon. The control unit is further configured to determine the rotor position of the rotor at least depending on the alignment of the total magnetic field.

Presented in an apparatus for controlling a brushless DC motor with a permanent magnet arranged on a rotor and a stator with windings. The apparatus includes an observer that is adapted to determine an estimated temperature of the permanent magnet as a function of the temperature of the windings, and determine at least one actuating signal for controlling the DC motor as a function of the estimated temperature of the permanent magnet.

Method and device for controlling a brushless direct-current motor

The invention relates to a method and arrangement for monitoring a power output stage, whereby the power output stage has at least one half bridge, comprising a series circuit of two semiconductor switches supplied with an operating voltage. The semiconductor switches may be alternately controlled in a conducting state and a non-conducting state, by means of pulse-width modulated pulses and the connection point of the semiconductor switch of the at least one half bridge forms an output. According to the invention, each pulse width of the signals at the output is compared with a relevant set pulse width and the power output stage is recognised as fault-free when deviations do not exceed a given magnitude.
