A receptacle for spent smoking materials is provided. The receptacle includes a base portion defining a chamber for containing the smoking materials. The base portion has an open upper end having a rim. The receptacle also includes an upper portion having a neck which extends upward from a dome which engages the rim and encloses an upper end of the base portion. A seal being provided between the rim of the base and the dome. A head is arranged at the upper end of the neck. The head has an orifice therein for receiving spent smoking materials. The orifice being arranged underneath and adjacent a bonnet which protects the orifice from the infiltration of rainwater.

The invention relates to a safety container for inflammable liquids, including a single valve body that has a pour-spout and a fill-spout, as well as a concerted venting means which are all located within the single valve body, thus eliminating user confusion and increasing safety by having one valve body containing all of these said functions.

Valve body for safety cans

A safety cabinet for the storage of flammable or combustible materials that has doors and a closure mechanism designed to automatically close and latch the doors in the event of fire. The closing mechanism is fully automatic and eliminates mechanical timing features as well as provides an automatic positive method and structure of closing the doors of the cabinet to insure a complete seal and lock. Furthermore, the latching assembly is operated using a handle which may be rotated into a tucked position. In this position, the handle rests in a cavity formed within the doors of the cabinet for protectively shielding the latching assembly to prevent accidental or unauthorized opening and handle breakage.

A drum for containing hazardous waste wherein a plurality of cam locks are associated with the drum to retain the lid thereof in sealed position when locked and to release the lid in the cam locks' open position when access to the drum is desired, thereby obviating the need for threaded lids which are difficult to close as well as open, especially when they have been weathered.

Overpack drum

A sealing cap is provided for use in conjunction with safety storage containers and the like, which provides automatic venting and relief of interior vacuum, including low interior pressure resulting from contraction of the contents of the storage container, and from removal of liquid contents from the container. The cap provides a secure closure for a first opening in the container through which contents may be added or removed, while simultaneously providing the aforedescribed venting function. Incorporation of the present invention with a storage container having a second fluid dispensing opening avoids the necessity of providing an alternate or specialized air vent to admit air and prevent a vacuum build-up during dispensing of the contents. In one embodiment, the device is particularly immune to the effect of corrosive fluids stored within the container.

Automatic venting sealing cap

A fill gauge is provided which may be used in connection with a storage container to inform an operator of the relative status of a filling operation. A multiplicity of indicia are progressively displayed to provide an initial warning when the filling operation is nearly completed, and to signal when the filling should be terminated, such as when a desired air-gap has been established. Further indicia may also be provided relating to, for example, an overfilled condition. The fill gauge is reusable and inexpensive, and may be sealed for safe storage. Adjustments for use with fluids of differing density are possible.

Fill gauge for safety and waste disposal drums

A safety dispensing conversion device for converting storage containers of inflammable fluids such as gasoline or the like, such as the well-known 'jerry can', into a container with safety dispensing features. A pour spout, a flame arrester extending from the pour spout interiorly of the container, a safety cap in a normally closed relation to the pour spout, and a spring-biased operating handle and linkage arrangement mounted on the upper end of the container and connected to the safety cap to cause opening of the safety cap upon movement of the operating handle in an opening direction, and insuring closing of the safety cap due to the action of the biasing spring when the operating handle is released, in modular form, is integrated into such a container. The resulting container has the characteristics of a jerry can which permit stacking of the converted containers for efficiency in storage and transportation, with the converted container also having the safety dispensing features not found in prior art jerry cans. Further, the resulting container having the capability to automatically vent in response to excessive internal pressures, without movement of its control handle, so as to allow venting when in a stacked relation to other such containers.

Safety can conversion apparatus

A plastic vent valve apparatus for use in connection with storage containers provides for equalization of the internal pressure of the container. Air is admitted into the container in response to a partial vacuum, while fumes or fluid contents of the container are expelled in response to over-pressurization of the container to prevent explosion of the container. Moderate over-pressurization resulting from normal expansion of the contents is relieved by venting of the fumes or liquid contents by means of a valve mechanism. Severe over-pressurization requiring rapid venting is better accommodated by ejection of a thin-walled break-away portion of the upper housing defining a large unobstructed vent aperture. Finally, under severe fire conditions the melting of the plastic valve components may provide a yet larger aperture for maximum venting.

Apparatus for safely dispensing flammable liquids from containers. A reciprocating piston, slidingly positioned within a cylinder, draws flammable liquid from a sealed drum and dispenses the liquid from a spout member extending from the apparatus. A flame-arresting device operably positioned within the apparatus disperses any flame advancing into the cylinder. A dip tube extends from the apparatus into the flammable liquid within the drum. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the reciprocating piston dispenses flammable liquids on the upstroke only, thus preventing accidental or inadvertent discharge of the liquid.

A safety cabinet for the storage of flammable or combustible materials has doors and a closure mechanism designed to automatically close and latch the doors in the event of fire. In one version, apparatus is provided to time the closing of the doors to insure a complete seal and lock. In a second version, apparatus is provided to seal the cabinet independently of the closing sequence of the doors.

An improved consumer safety container for the storage and dispensing of flammable liquids, formed as a hollow chamber having a continuously closed inner surface, the chamber having formed therein a number of tubular extensions with openings for filling, pouring and venting the container. A spring-loaded compression closure device is mounted in these openings to provide an effective seal of the container. Closure attachment means position and protect the spring loaded compression closure means within the container. Flammable liquid may be filled into or dispensed from the container by release insertion means which disengage the compression closure device.

Consumer safety container for inflammables

A non-metallic safety filling container is formed as a hollow wall having a continuously closed inner surface, terminating at openings for venting, pouring and filling. A trigger mechanism mounted to the container simultaneously vents the container and slides a ported cylinder into position to complete a pouring path from the interior of the container through the pour spout.

A self closing safety gate valve controls the flow of heavy, viscous fluids such as machine oil, rubber cement, lacquer, or the like. The valve housing contains a rotor with a spring biased thrust exerted laterally against the rotor, to hold it--in normal position--against the housing wall with a metal-to-metal seal at the output orifice. When the rotor turns, a pair of large output orifice openings, in the housing and rotor, are aligned--in off-normal position--in order to enable the out flow of fluid. A spring biased handle automatically returns the rotor from the off-normal to the normal position, where the thrust again presses the rotor body against the large output orifice opening in the housing.

Self closing safety gate valve for viscous fluids

A plastic carbide lamp includes upper and lower containers or housings with a water control needle valve therebetween. As the needle valve opens, water drips from the upper container upon calcium carbide in the lower container, to generate acetylene gas. The acetylene gas rises into a dome shaped collection chamber having a burner tip therein, at which the acetylene gas burns.
