The present invention relates to a process for preparing an extract from ivy leaves which includes the active ingredient hederacoside C and &#x3b1;-hederin, and to extracts prepared by this process. According to this there is initially provision of a first, &#x3b1;-hederin-rich extract and subsequently provision of a second, hederacoside C-rich extract. In a last step, the two extracts are blended to give an extract which has an adjusted hederacoside C content and an adjusted &#x3b1;-hederin content.

Process for preparing an extract from ivy leaves

An insect-repelling agent contains N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET) based on alcohol solutions as the active ingredient (repellent), and further contains an adjuvant that extends the period of effectiveness of DEET following application to human skin. It is proposed that the sole adjuvant is glycerol in an amount of more than 10 percent by weight of the insect-repelling.
